Depends on how much you weigh to start with. The more you need to lose, the more you will lose at first by fasting. Just be sure you drink enough water to stay hydrated.

I have tried just not eating and you need to believe the people that say that you will lose 10 but gain back 15. It can even be worse than that!
You will have the best results if you drop your calories down to about 1200. Make sure you drink 8 glasses of water a day and drink a glass of milk a day too. There are lots of studies that show that the calcium will help you lose weight.
Cut out all breads, potatoes and rice. Eat lean protein and lots of veggies. Check out websites for the South Beach Diet.

Well, I went on a water fast for 10 days and I lost 20 lbs. And, then afterwards I made sure I start exercising and gradually began eating fruits & vegetables and NO white carbs and plenty of water. People noticed the weight loss too. The first 3 days are tough. I had caffeine withdrawels with headaches and was kinda weak for the first day or so.. But, I began to have ALOT of energy the rest of the fast.

If you don't eat for a week, you'll lose about 10 pounds, but then you'll gain back 15 pounds when you start eating again.
Instead of not eating, try the following:
Cut out the junk food. They have "empty" calories.
Eat a LOT of veggies. They are low calorie, low fat and they fill you up (just don't put butter and cheese on them).
Make water your main drink, instead of soda or juice. Drink at least 8 glasses a day.
Walk around your neighborhood for 30 minutes at a fast pace at least 4 days a week.
You'll start shedding pounds, and they won't come back.

How much you lose depends. They say 2 to 3 lbs per week is normal. When you dont eat your body goes into starvation mode and will fight your weight loss. It is better to eat better. 3500 calories is 1 lb. Keep your calorie intake like 1200 calories a day. Try to avoid carbohydrates as they turn into sugar and fat in your body the fastest.

Dont eat nothing. Just eat less. I'll tell you this because if you do that as soon as you start to eat you'll gain it back in a heart beat and you might gain more. Eat some everyday, salads, celery, cattots somthing. You may even lose more that way.
