He is always so cheap and chinsey. He could have given me something romantic, but he really just doesn't get it. He gives me housewares all of the time. I even have a new set of steak knives. Are all men that stupid? We have been dating for about 4 yrs.

I have told him what I want. He just cant figure it out. I lit a candle once and turned down the lights for a little romance, and he blew out the candle because he thought we would fall asleep and burn the house down and turned the light back on.

what about a swift kick in the AZZ...set him free and give him a gift that you would want...or if you must give him the gifts he gave you back...don't beat around the bush, make him giveyou what you want and if he won't set him free, while you still have it in you!!!

Oh, my mom's boyfriend is like that, and so is my dad, he got me a BB gun when I was eight, I wanted a Barbie vet set, with all of the little animals. But my fiance gets great gifts, I told him about guys and crappy gifts and how upsetting that is, to know someone doesn't care enough to even try, so he really puts a lot of effort into his gifts. Anyways... You have four options.
1 Get him something really girly, maybe a blow dryer, or a men's manicure set.
2 Get him nothing.
3 Give him a different printer/fax/copy machine.
4 Get him an amazing gift that is very personal, and mention that you wanted him to know how much you love him and how well you know his personality, because you believe that it is the thought behind gifts, the planning and consideration, that matter.

No, not all men are stupid. Alot of guys like to give girls jewelry and similar things. If he's cheap and gives you housewares i'd say get him a watch or cologne. Something nice but not too much. Its hard to buy for men.

Many men are that stupid. It is best to deal with men directly and not beat around the bush. Tell thank you for the gift and that you do love him, but that you and all women want something more romantic like jewelry or whatever it is that floats your boat.

I think some men are overly practical with their gifts. They kill two birds with one stone with their gifts. I usually have to coach my brothers-on-law on thoughtful, romantic gifts for their wives. Fortunately, my husband does have romantic thoughts and does not require the same hinting from my sisters, so no, not all men are that stupid! So, about that lawn mower...

my hubby is the same way. always something for the house on my birthday, but something personal for his. I even said already when buying a new vacuum close to his birthday, that this could be his gift. He said, no. he wanted tickets to see a game with his buddy. I gave up on him. If I want something like jewelry, i'll just buy it for myself. He is a bit selfish, true. But this is him, and i just gotta deal. He is a good hubby other than that. good luck.

My husband did that too.............he is now my ex-husband. If you are unable to talk to him after 4 years you have a communication problem which is the tip of the iceberg. As far as the gifts......give him ink cartridges and fax paper........for the machine he gave you!
