Cats naturally have an odor. Some more than others. You can try to put a little baking soda on her fur. This will soak up the bad smell, and irritate her enough to clean her self. Don't worry it's safe. Also cats shed year round, especially if they are indoor and outdoor cats. Just brush her every day.

They do shed in the summer. Providing the fur isn't coming off in big clumps (not big puffs but real clumps), it's probably ok. Try combing her and you could look into the cat wipes suggested above also.
Overall, I'd say get a closer look at what's up. Is her fur matted/oily looking? If so, you are probably correct and she is not grooming herself or she has some kind of health problem that is making her fur unusually oily. If you can take her to the vet, that would be good.
Check to see if the bad smell is coming from her mouth. If so, it's probably a dental problem.
Does she seem intolerant to being picked up, patted in a certain way? My cat did this when he was starting to have bad arthritis. The vet gave us prednisone pills which are not too expensive and which work really well.

If you are that worried about your cat, try and give her a bath in the bath tub. As for the shedding, she may be missing something from her diet which causes the shedding.

well, its normal for cats to shed during summer, because it's so hot
they need to lose all that extra fur. To get rid of her smell, i would suggest maybe just getting a damp towel and trying to wipe her dow, or you could go to the groomers. Even though your cat hates water the groomers will keep still groom her even if she sqirms. My cvats hate watyer but when we take them to the groomers, they restrain them. Hope i could help.

Use a damp rag with warm water instead of immersing her, if you want to wash her.
Sometimes cats need time to get used to being wet, and may react with claws if you're not gentle.
Also cats do shed, but perhaps if it seems to be losing too much hair or if she's not grooming herself you might ask your vet why she isn't grooming herself.

Take her to the vet. When a cat doesn't groom, it means they might be sick. Better to be safe than sorry. Have them check her Thyroid and Cortisol levels, some conditions start with oily dirty fur.

My dogs's breath smells like catfood. Her call became Mittens. (preserving my quit my cat's eyes even as I typed that). extra: no individual right that's named Mittens. That became a shaggy dog tale, like my dogs ate Mittens the cat and smelled like catfood ..... nevermind. LOL

If you bathe her, and let her know she is "real pretty" when she comes out of the bath, she might start grooming properly again.

shedding can be a sign of bad health. you can buy special cat food at the petstore for a healthy coat, or whatever.
