I wouldn't, unless it is in a place where your dog wouldn't be able to lick. Neosporin isn't intended for consumption, and it would be bad if your dog got sick because of what you put on his cuts. If you're looking for a way to keep them clean, I would wash them with anti-bacterial soap and then clean them with something like Betadine or half-strength hydrogen peroxide, and then blot with distilled or sterile water to remove the excess. If you want to seal the cuts up, just use plain vaseline, not with any chemicals, and cover with something like Telfa (non-stick gauze) and tape.

RE:
Can I apply Neosporin to my dog's cuts just as I would my own? If not, why not?

Sure, but he'll just lick it off. Dogs heal from the inside out, and seldom get infections. If the cut isn't deep, clean it out and leave it alone. If it's deep, you'd want to see a vet.

Anything you put on if they can reach it they will lick it off, ingest it. Neosporin is for external use only. If your dog has cuts ask your vet what you can safely do for the dog.

sure, my mom puts it on her cat all the time and there's never been a problem. you just might want to spray some Bitter Apple on after you apply it so the dog won't lick it off.

How many and how big are these cuts? Your best bet is to take your dog to the vet...depending on the cuts, some oral antibiotics may not be such a bad idea. If they are just little scrapes, then probably not necessary.

You need to call your vet. I know that you cant give your dog aspirin as you would yourself, but i am not sure about ointments. I know you can buy ointments specially made for dog's wounds at most pet stores, or from your vet.
