It is good for your dog's stomach to eat grass. It acts as to purge its stomache and settle it. Just make sure the dog does not eat grass that has been sprayed with pesticide or fertilizer by a service company since it has rained. This can be harmful. Remember that the dog may vomit, so give it time before you go back inside.

There seem to be a lot of opinions about this behavior in dogs, but it seems to be that sometimes they just feel like eating grass! Oh, and they usually throw it up, too, so watch out for that.

Dogs eat grass if their stomach's bother them. When they eat the grass it makes them vomit so it won't hurt them anymore. It's kind of like mother natures way to make them ease their stomach pains. If this happens continulesly throughout days then take your dog to see a vet. She may have something wrong with her. But I woldn't worry much. Good luck with your dog!

While I've heard many times that dogs eat grass when their stomach is upset, my current vet says that dogs are not strict carnivores and enjoy eating grass as well as other vegetation.

Usually, dogs start eating grass when acquiring a disease caused by worms. Perhaps you'd better take it to a vet for the proper treatments.

Grass, to dogs, is a natural laxative and high in fiber.

My German Shepherd eats grass whenever he is constipated or needs to throw up.

Nice fact to know... but totally harmless.

I agree: it's normal...BUT! Be aware!!!! Pay attention!! My dog ate something (maybe a bug) that was in the grass and he was sick for a few days (he got a severe infection: fever, vomit, & diarrea included!!!)

So, please, be carefull...don't let her run out of your sight so you can see what she is eating!

Most likely she is gonna vomit anyway, since grass does that...but try to watch her...OK???

Best of lucks & congrats... shi-tzu dogs are lovelly, aren't they???!!!

what i have been told over the years is that grass aids in digestion and also helps with upset stomach. she might be missing something in her diet. i know that certain pet stores sell pet grass for indoor cats and dogs. i'm not a specialist, but there could be other reasons too.

since the weather has been hot many dogs get a little sick this time of year.grass is a medicine for them.
something better, which my Navajo grandmother taught me is to boil some corn, let your dog eat the corn and chew on the cob, also use the water that you cooked the corn in as drinking water for her.she will feel better in no time, also limit her time in the heat.
