Dogs and cats both age 7 years for every human year. So take 12 * 7 = 84. He's 84 dog years old.

I used to work with a Vet. It's not really times 7 years contrary to popular belief. What I understand, is that they age 7 years for ther first 2 years of their life, then after 2 years......it goes by fives. For example.....a dog 2 years old would be considered 14, but a dog 3 years old would be considered 19. Understand? So your dog is 12, that would make him 64.

After checking the answers, 64 is much closer to the truth than 86.
It's not so simple, the X7 calculation is only applied for the 7 or 9 firsts months, then for the next year and a half or so, it's X5, then it goes down to X3...
For sure a dog 6 or 7 years old is at the top of his maturity, like human beings, at 35-40 they're at their top, from then they start to get old

84 years old. You always multiply how old dogs are in human years by 7. So... 12 times 7= 84

It's true that multiplying their years by seven is a PRETTY accurate gauge to relate their age to ours, but remember, at the beginning of a dog's life (like the first year or two), you should only multiply by 3, so I would say 2x3 = 6 plus 10x7=70 - Your dog is about 76 people years.
