The term "cult" is an insulting synonym for "religion". The term has no place in polite conversation, and Jehovah's Witnesses correctly consider it an insult.

Sadly, this so-called "question" seems intended mostly as insulting slander against Jehovah's Witnesses. Jesus himself quite plainly assigned the Christian congregation to perform an evangelizing work (Matt 28:19,20; Luke 10:1,2; et al). Most people seem to either appreciate or not care about Jehovah's Witnesses at their door, yet Witnesses work to please God, not other humans.

One wonders if anti-Witnesses understand that Jehovah's Witnesses are proven to be true Christians, based upon the Witnesses' preaching work and the anti-Witnesses' bigoted hatred against them.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

What some think to be a cult, others think as being the Truth. It is because humans have limited knowledge, and as the time-tested saying goes, " a little knownledge is worse than none " : such is why it is so difficult to decide what is or is not a cult. Specifically, the group you asked about is no different than all other so called spiritual groups, who beat their own drum with grandeous promises & outlandish statements - all delivered from mental thoughts, emotions & or drawing inferences. That is fine in business dealings or other worldly involvements, but in the domain of God - true religion or spirituality must be delivered through and confirmed by spiritual experience. That is why it is said that Jesus told much the same, cautioning seekers to, " beware of ravening wolves dressed as sheep " and supposedly stated that " when the blind follow the blind both it and them shall fall into the ditch. " So to answer your question, all individuals and groups who say but can not do, owing to their lacking the EXPERIENCE of what they speak, and who cultivate their following out of ignorance or by design, are cults, some are just prettier, more appealing and non-threatening than others. You can decide the matter for yourself through you own EXPERIENCE. Good luck !

Has your minister, priest or religious leader mentioned this wonderful hope to you? Of course they have not, most clergymen say nothing about it. In fact, many do not even believe the Bible. This is an important reason why Jehovah’s witnesses call at the homes of people of other religions.

The efforts of Jehovah’s witnesses to approach people in public and at their homes are rooted in the Word of God. Jesus himself went directly to the people, and he instructed his apostles and disciples to do likewise.

The Witnesses’ beliefs, based entirely on God’s Word, the Bible, prevent them from falling into the trap of becoming a sect or a cult. They take a kindly interest in all other people, of whatever religious persuasion. No, they do not try to force these people to change their viewpoint. They endeavor to imitate their Leader, Christ Jesus, by presenting Scriptural evidence of the trouble-free Paradise that will soon be established on earth.—Matthew 28:19, 20; 1 Peter 2:21.

No we aren't a cult. We aren't an extremist religion-everything we do is Bible-based, we do not follow a human leader, and we aren't a secret organization because if we were we wouldn't be at your doors. We come to your door because Jesus instructed us to do so-(Matthew 24:14, Matthew 28:19) If you knew your neighbors were about to die wouldn't you help them? If you knew that all of the things they had been taught wouldn't you want to give them the truth about the Bible and it's teachings? Similarly, we strive to help people learn the truth about God and his Word. It's true that many people don't want to hear us, they talk bad about us, and the mock us, but we know that we are making Jehovah happy when we do his will and that's all that matters :)

I like to view them as wayward sons of Christianity. These lost brothers believe that to get into Heaven you have to do good works (convert others--go to many people's houses to 'witness' to them) instead of simply asking Jesus to forgive your sins. I do not know too much about them either but they seem to not be a cult, i dont know. If they come to your though I would recommend politely asking them to leave, or if you are interested in talking to them about religion (what similarities they have w/ Christianity/differences) I doubt they would mind. Be firm with whatever you do though. If you have no interest in converting to the Jehoveh's Witnesses, tell them that from the start.

Counterfeit Christianity is probable the wonderful description i might desire to furnish for a cult. Counterfeit Christianity is an imitation of actual Christianity. Bible words like "Jesus Christ, Resurrection, Salvation, and Atonement" are utilized by ability of the Cult, yet entirely diverse meanings have been assigned to those words by ability of the various cult communities. Like counterfeit money it fairly is often times puzzling to discover, so that's puzzling to discover counterfeit Christianity, because of the fact it seems that like the actual factor. professionals reading counterfeit money generally carry it as much as a good gentle and seem for figuring out marks. Counterfeit Christianity additionally has figuring out marks which could be seen while held as much as an excellent more suitable gentle, the gentle of God's observe, the bible. we are at an benefit if all of us understand what to anticipate from a cult. Cultists are very properly experienced to look "Christian", and positively have confidence they are the actual church, and additionally you go with the deliverance! Therfore, be formidable and ask the question, "Do you have confidence the team you symbolize is the only actual church on the face of the earth?" in the event that they respond that they are, or in the event that they are evasive, making feedback like "properly, each church has a level of certainty yet...", you have made an early detection of a Cultist. each actual Chistian, if asked an identical question, regardless of his denomination, might respond that the actual church is made out of believers interior the Lord Jesus Christ, and HE (not some corporation) is the way, the fact, AND THE existence, (John 14:6). No valid denomonation might declare that they on my own and their individuals have salvation completely, however the cults (the counterfeits) do.

They do it because it's part of their teachings that to be good servants to Jehovah they should go out and spread the word about him and try to win converts. If you don't want them coming to the house just politely tell them you are not interested and wish them a nice day, then shut the door.

No they are not a cult. They only go to people's houses because in the Bible Jesus commanded that his followers to go house to house and preach the bible's message.

I would say yes they are a cult, but in a way, so are a lot of other religious groups. They go door to door to try and share and hopefully convert people to their belief system. Good luck getting them off your porch!
