yes. If you are old enough to die for your country, you should be old enough to have a drink.

Know what else harms 18 year olds? Getting sent over to war zones for year(s) and coming back with a whole damn smorgasboard of mental issues. I also don't buy that it's really all that harmful when you're 18 as opposed to 21. There is many a country overseas who are much more healthy and intelligent that Americans and they all let people drink well before 21.

I think so! While I was in college they were allowed to drink beer and wine in many states. Then something happened, and I'm not sure what it was, maybe insurance companies got involved or politicians were looking for votes. Still, it is unconscionable that you can die for your country but are not allowed to buy a beer. I do not like alcohol much or alcoholics, and I was against the phony war in Iraq from before it started. It's horrible and tragic to see the names and ages of those killed in the Iraq War listed in the paper every day. Not being able to drink is just one more American hypocrisy.

Maybe, but then the penalty for alcohol related offenses should also be raised. Many 21-22 year olds that I know can't handle the responsibility that comes with alcohol consumption asking an 18 year old to handle a new drivers license AND alcohol is just too much too fast.

Yes
If they vote and enter the military........we'll make it a package deal.
Everyone always pushes the "old enough to vote/serve their country" angle when it comes drinking so let's let them do all 3 at the same time

NO, this is a lame *** excuse. Ur not of age. Ur brain is not fully developed. It CAUSES harm! They lowered the voting age for that reason. Damn I wish I could remember what my smart teacher said, but that was when I was 16, I'm over 21. Brand new proven: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060706/hl_nm/alcohol_dependence_dc
go there! I am sick of u people! Get a life. I am 21 and haven't drank and don't care to! Partly due to many morons and sad and family related problems.

Yes, I firmly believe we ought to treat people as adults who are adults. Seems pretty obvious to me.

I actually turned 18 just before they changed the drinking age, so I was able to drink about about 3 years before my friends who were a year younger than me, and it was bizarre. It just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Absolutely.

If they are considered adults at 18, then that means the US is taking away the rights not only of youths, but of adults. I think an adult is old enough to decide whether they want to indulge in an alcoholic beverage.
