Working out twice a day is a double split and is very intense. It is probably not the best choice, especially since you've been ill. It would make more sense to start with moderate three times a week program for awhile, then move to a 4 times a week program, followed by a six day split. That would probably have you in the best shape of your life in a few months.

Man, that is a short amount of time. How old are you? If you are still in H.S. your metabolism is still going to be very active. So weight will be tough to keep on. Eat, Eat and Eat some more. At least 3500 calories a day. Working out twice could be good or bad, because it will not allow your muscles time to heal and grow. You need to sleep well, because that is when your muscles grow the most. Do tons of legs!! It will release the most growth hormone to the rest of your body allowing the rest of your body to grow. PROTEIN! Lots of it! Tuna, shakes, beans, milk, and chicken (not fried) should be on your diet. I put on 20 pounds last year the right way, by doing this. I also take creatine and glutamine. Good luck.

You don't need to work out that often. But you do need to work out. If you are a football player, then you know the importance of weight training. It gives you strength and helps build muscle, increasing your weight. You need a good workout every other day, one which emphasizes the whole body. And you need to eat plenty of protein to help the muscles grow larger so that you can handle heavier weights.

Good luck.

Eat tons of chocolate and work out daily. But they might counter-act each other, I don't know for sure. Dark chocolate is good for you by the way, I'm eating some right now. Yum.
