I have been using this recipe for years.......easy!
OVEN BARBECUED SPARE RIBS
3 to 4 lbs. Country Style Ribs
black pepper (season to taste)
garlic powder (season to taste)
1 lemon (sliced)
1 large onion (sliced)
1 cup ketchup
1/3 cup Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 dashes Tabasco Sauce
2 cups water
Place ribs in a large shallow roasting pan, meaty side up. (mine measures 14 x 10 1/2) Season meat with pepper and garlic powder. On each piece place a slice of unpeeled lemon, a slice of onion. Roast in a very hot oven (450 degrees) for 30 minutes.
Drain grease from meat pan. Combine remaining ingredients in saucepan and bring to a boil and pour over ribs. Continue baking in moderate oven
(350 degrees) until tender, about 45 minutes to an hour. Baste ribs with sauce every 15 minutes. If sauce gets thick, add more water.

The best way that I have found is to smoke them. On a charcoal grille, once the coals are hot, divide the coals onto either side of the grill so that there are none directly under the center of the grill. Soak some mesquite or hickory chips in water for about an hour and place a few on the coals to provide some smoke. Close off the air vents a little bit to regulate the heat, you want it around 250- 300 F. Place the ribs on a drip pan (you can use foil as well) and cook them anywhere from 2-5 hrs. Every hour toss a couple more briquettes on either side as well as another hickory chip or two. When the ribs are about 15 min from being done, slather them in BBQ sauce if you like.

Slowly. Low-Med heat for about 45 mins on a gas grill, or wait until the fire is low on charcoal (ashy white). Last 10 mins. add sauce, starting with the bottom side and doing the top right before pulling em off. The 45 min time applies to baby backs, more for beef.

If they are pork ribs I would boil them first then marinade them for about three hours.. Doing this will make them really tender. The best BBQ sauce is Sweet Baby Rays...so yummy. Then stick them on the grill.

If you have a pressure cooker, do them that way first. Then you just have to grill them up a bit and add the BBQ sauce. It's a bit faster that way. Boiling first works as an alternative to this as well.
