This has been done,
it wasn't practical,
but they built drove and flew the AeroCar
back in the late 1940's early 1950's.
Drive to the airport, unfold the wing, takeoff & fly to your destination, fold the wing, drive to the destination.
It was cool but,
wasn't a really good car or a really good airplane.
Interesting oddity, but not practical.
Sort of like the AquaCar a Car and a Boat....
They are great collector items.

The problem is you want a good plane. So, what you're looking for is actually a plane built for driving. The design is similar, but flying is the primary purpose. This is from the recent popular science.

This was already done in the late 1940s. The question should be "How were cars built for flying"?
I knew those old Popular Science magazines would someday earn me 10 points. Now, the problem is to get them.
Pretty please ?

Strange as it may seem, there is an
experimental vehicle that acts as a
submarine, car and a plane. Of
course it isn't practical.
