Just came back from there yesterday!
Beautiful - friendly people, delicious food, tons of history.
Don't miss Michael Angelo's Madonna with Child. It just sits in the church - you don't even have to pay to see her.
I've been there 14 years ago and loved it so much, I had to come back.
So much to see, so serene and peaceful, and yet you can't complain about the lack of a night-life.
Just as a warning - everything closes at 6pm, so if you want to shop, do it during the day. And it is very expensive.
I recommend renting an apartment - this way you can get food at a supermarket (Delhaize) and save a few bucks - the dollar doesn't go far.
On Satudays in the morning there is a food market at the big square in front of the concert hall - till about 1pm. You can get fresh cold cuts, cheese and other dairy products, the bread that will knock your socks off and even freshly grilled meats.
Don't bother with muscles till the end of July, beginning of August - this is when they are in season and absolutely have some Brugse Wit - the local white beer.
Best of all - it is so small, you can walk everywhere and if you want to take trips anywhere, you can take the train, which is cheap and runs like a clockwork.
Enjoy - I miss it already.

Bruges is really nice. I went last year but just for one day. You can have a horse drawn tour of the town which we did and it fantastic. You can also have a boat tour on their canal which I didn't do but my friends did they said that was pretty good too.
There is 17 churches and cathedrals. It is a really pretty place to go all cobble stones and old buildings.
There is a central square like there are in most European towns. Lots of restaurants and cafe to go in. Lots of beer to if you like that.
Bruges is Lovely

Beautiful. Take a boat ride on the canals. Then, stop in the main square and have some nice Belgian beer and watch the people go by.

I was there. It was fabulous. Beautiful architecture, nice people - (exept for the employees in chocolatestores - they were sour if you were just looking and not buying). Food was delicious, horse-taxi = nice trip to see town.
I lived in this small hotel (four rooms) called "No 11". FANTASTIC! Perfect.

Brugges is one of the prettiest cities in Europe, . . it's quaint and very middle ages, and is surrounded by a moat
