Same problem here, bud.
Just the way people are.
It's annoying but people are always going to attempt to force their ways onto you.
I'm bombarded by Christians every time I go home to the States. They are everywhere, like a virus (lol), like sheep. Lost little sheep. I just pretend they aren't there when they bug me and try to piss them off by asking them questions that rile them up. They're really cute when you tick them off, aren't they??

I don't know. Would you be happier if no one cared about you at all?
I mean, there are lots of inept people out there who don't know how to act. Some of them happen to be Christians, and some just are "fellow travelers" with the church. Some of these people probably have sent you messages which could be interpreted as pushy or unfriendly. However, characterizing them as 'hate' messages seems quite extreme, since most of them are probably only telling you what they believe. There's no hate in that.
I'm not going to apologize for messages that we know nothing about...frankly, we have no way of knowing if you're just making this all up to get an excuse to 'bash' Christians. It seems to be a popular sport on here. But even if they're real, I think you calling it "hate" is a bit disturbed. Do you understand what hate is, or do you just use the word for its emotional content?

People are fearful of things that are different than they are. They are also fearful of things they fail to understand. The desire for homogeniety is strong in the peoples of the world; especially ones in our culture, which is based on Judeo-Christian history. If things aren't the way someone believes usually they result in protecting themselves from other cultures or religions. For example, the indigenous people of the North American Native Tribes would kill encroaching parties...not because they were after the others' resources, but because of different cultural and ethical belief systems. It's sheer psychology.

Hopefully you don't get "hate messages". I think most people really are trying to help you, although it often comes across as intolerant of other beliefs.
Do your best to see into their true intentions- into their heart. If what they are trying to do is save you, they are expressing love toward you. Maybe they aren't doing it in the most appropriate way, or a way in which you prefer, but do your best to look beyond that.
ps- I'm not a Christian but do my best to practice tolerance and love.

The fact of the matter is that we share this world with all kinds of people. There are those who are tolerant as well as those who are intolerant. There are those who are loving as well as those who are hateful. These personalities transcend all aspects of life, including religion, and those with more aggressive personalities tend to interpret it in an extremist fashion.
I'm sorry that you have encountered people like that. Please know that not everyone is that way.
Best wishes.

Because it is Christian beliefs to convert anyone they can to Christianity.
The concept behind that is good...if God existed and there was un-mistakeable proof that he did, then yes, for salvation sake, it should be someone's duty to speak of Him.
However, the miracles and proof he provided in the Bible seem to have stopped...I would think that if God wanted himself known, that he would show someone He was real...not just toy with people and let them go on "faith alone".
I'm on the fence, but I do understand your frustration.

Why is it that when someone offers you the gift of eternal life, you feel you are being assaulted? It isn't being forced on you. You can take or leave it. But someone cares enough about you to make sure you know about God's free gift of salvation, and you take it as an insult. Isn't that strange?!

You have answered your own question WITH your question. Intolerance is still with us, unfortunatley. You should act according to the best dictates of your own beliefs, and you can then afford to ignore the nasty comments, as they deserve to be ignored! I am assuming that you DO follow some religion, or you have some moral compass outside of religion.

I could care less what you believe, and I am Christian. The Lord wrote you a letter, but if you choose to ignore it, it's really not my problem and I don't lose sleep over it.
