Hondas are great. They are reliable and get great gas mileage. I had an Accord with 187,000 miles on it, and I never had anything done to it except for routine brake work. I have a Toyota Camry now. I like it, but the gas mileage isn't as good, and I already had to spend $600 on the air conditioner. It's only 3 years old.

FORD- Fix Or Repair Daily, Found On Road Dead

Just my opinion.

FORD FOCUS IS DEFINITELY A GOOD IDEA. STAY AWAY FROM THE 2000 MODEL YEARS, THEY HAD SOME PROBLEMS. ASIDE FROM THAT IT SHOULD BE A FINE FIRST CAR. A LOT OF PEOPLE LEAN TOWARD THE JAPANESE CARS. HOWEVER, THEY ARE SO POPULAR THAT YOU'LL HAVE TO PAY A PREMIUM TO GET A TOYOTA OR A HONDA. THE FOCUS GETS GREAT MILEAGE, IS RELIABLE, AND THEY ARE CHEAP TOO. YOU'LL GET A LOT MORE VALUE OUT OF ONE OF THOSE. SURE, THEY ARE A NO FRILLS CAR BUT PRACTICALITY IS WHAT'S MOST IMPORTANT.
IF YOU WANT A RIDE WITH A LOT OF STYLE, GO WITH A MID OR LATE 90'S BMW 3-SERIES. YOU CAN GET A NICE ONE FOR WELL UNDER $10K AND THEY'RE THE MOST RELIABLE BIMMER HAS EVER BUILT. YOU'LL PROBABLY LOVE THE CAR AND BE ABLE TO GET AN ADDITIONAL 10-15 YEARS OUT OF IT.

GOOD LUCK,

You really did not give me enough information on your needs. Well, Looking at the Ford Focus, Its a good reliable vehicle. If you get a 2004, 2005 one, Most of the depreaciation is done so you wont pay to much. Its good on gas. If you Get a Certified Pre-owned one, It upgrades the warranty to 4 yrs 75000 miles so you won't have to purchase an extended warranty. The Consumer people say don't get and extended warranty. they have money where most working class people don't . I used to own a dealership and I always purchase one. At $90 per hour if it breaks plus parts, It would be dum not to. But, demand a factory warranty, not an aftermarket. If Ford get Ford ESP, If Dodge chrysler get Added coverage. NO AFTERMARKET warranty. Now if you are looking for good reliable vehicles with good gas milage like the Ford Focus also look at the toyota corolla, scion , Nissan Sentra, Dodge Chrysler Neon (this has the worst resell value) but it is cheap (preowned).Mazda Protege,,, the one I like the best is the New Mercury MILAN. the 4 cyl is getting me 29+ MPG and it has great pickup and handling and does not look cheap.
Hope this helps

fucus is a good car if they don't have a lot of miles on them. I would suggest to get a used car, since most teenagers crash there first car. I have a 2003 pontiac grand am V6 and it uses a lot more gas then a 4 cylinder, but if you want something that dosn't use a lot of gas, don't get a V6.

For a 1st car I would go with a newer used car, like one used as a leased vehicle. They are cheaper and still under warranty. I would go fora smaller car with the gas prices the way they are. Like an escort or a cavalier.

I'd suggest something that gets decent gas mileage. A first time driver wants to drive all the time. Focus probably wouldn't be too bad. Or maybe a Corolla.

I would buy a Japanese car. I have owned a car from all the American car companies and none of them compare to the dependiblity and reliability of the Japanese ones. Besides forign cars are 90% american built with american parts where as american cars are 20% american parts and manufacture. Support America, Buy Forgein

Go for a Toyota or possibly a Honda Civic. Easy to drive and low maintenance costs for a first-timer

Get a used car that is in good shape. Insurance will be lower. I recommend staying away from a Chevy Lumina.
