Does this mean that people are spelling so poorly that the computer doesn't know what they are talking about or that they are too lazy to click a button?
This has bothered me for some time. Maybe this is how language evolves over time. So many people are so used to seeing a spelling version of a word that they assume it is correct and perpetuate is use?

I hate to see people who are considered "literate" misspell too....my other pet peeve is the use of "irregardless" it's an oxymoron. I believe they are too lazy to check the Check Spelling button, located just above the box the text is being typed in, myself......One of your answers said her computer won't check spelling....yet she can answer questions? Go figure. Later. Nana

You have to remember that there are 2 different versions of the English language, with European English and American English. These versions have some spelling differences and a spell checker won't catch all the errors. Also you can put a lot of errors down to typos and the fact that a lot of the language has been abbreviated for mobile phone texting purposes. Like everything else, the language is changing as it has done since it's inception in England, hundreds of years ago. With those changes come spelling changes also!

I've been answering a few questions on here and sometimes it says spell check not available at this time. so i submit what I've typed without spell checking it. some people don't know how to use a spell checker. some people think they are spelling everything correctly and don't feel a need to check the spelling. this could be how language evolves over time. don't let spelling bother you, there's more out in the world that should have you excited than improper spelling. relax and enjoy.

There is so much ignorance out there, it is appalling. Most of these people don't know that their spelling is atrocious or they don't care. Some are foreigners who are not familiar with English. And finally, our schools are doing a poor job.

I hate to say it as much as the next person, but no one really cares about spelling anymore unless it's on test, especially when you can abriviate.

As for the "check spellling," it won't work on my computer.

Some are typing errors but some are from persons whose English is not their first language or who haven't done well at school.
