well i live in asia.. my parents are kong-hu-cu and buddhist..
my schools are christian and catholic school.. i love to read about religion, spirituality, and scientist/atheist's thoughts too..
personally.. i think buddhism and hinduism provide a more practical realistic view of life and philosophy on living a life.. i also like Taoism.. you should check 'tao of pooh'. for buddhism you can check library at www.buddhanet.net

"Lots of people talk to animals," said Pooh.
"Not that many listen though."
"That's the problem."

" Not like Pooh, the most effortless Bear we've ever seen."
"Just How do you do it, Pooh?"
"Do What?" asked Pooh.
"Become so Effortless."
"I don't do much of anything," he said.
"But all those things of yours get done."
"They just sort of happen," he said"

"Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind, "Pooh!," he whispered.
"Yes, Piglet?"
"Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. "I just wanted to be sure of you."

"Rabbit's clever," said Pooh thoughtfully.
"Yes,"said Piglet, "Rabit's clever."
"And he has Brain."
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit has Brain."
There was a long silence.
"I suppose," said Pooh, "that that's why he never understands anything."

You'd be surprised how many people violate this simple principle every day of their lives and try to fit square pegs into round holes, ignoring the clear reality that Things Are As They Are.

Get your self a stained glass window, remove all the bracing and drop it two or three stories onto a patio: the multi-colored shards will be a pretty good illustration of Christianity today. So you can expect several different answers.

If your religion is doing its job for you, you will have great confidence and personal spirituality. You will be able to look with magnaminity at the cultures of others, and their diverse religions. Unfortunately, many of the Christian sects recruit almost exclusively among the miserable and appeal with "We're better than the others..." This in itself is a sin; the sin of Vanity.
I have heard some Christians call Buddhism a philosophy, rather than a belief (affecting niceness), really this is rude also.

Islam appears disconnected, but it was never really a coherent whole (i.e. one central church administration) though at times in particular areas the ruler and the religious leader have been one and the same.

Cultural flexibility is a factor for survival.
Adherance to absolute religions or absolute rulers is not.

If you can fly in an airplane, would you try to fly on a broom? Perhaps no. By means of his prophets God gave us the only true revelation of himself. The Bible is the only book that gave us the prophetic word, foretelling the end of this age like no other belief system has ever done. One example; How buying and selling was to be controlled by using a mark and a number, as told in Rev 13 at the end of that chapter, look it up! Space here does not permit to really get into the subject, but unbelievers cannot explain away even that one. God bless you!!!

Christians are usually brainwashed to believe that any belief other than theirs is "satan." They don't know anything. If they DID, they would know that paganism has been around before christianity and it has NOTHING to do with satan, as satan is not even a part of pagan beliefs. All I hear is "the bible says, the bible says.." Well, ya know what? There are OTHER books that you can read that offer strong faith like Buddhism, hinduism and other things. You just have to READ THEM and then decide what you believe in, rather than follow whatever what shoveled up for ya without thinking on your own.

I am a christian and can only answer as I believe from study of the bible. Other religions are based on tradition and what the people have been taught. The bible says God's word will be made known to them but it is their decision to accept or reject it. Most will reject it, because narrow is the way and only a few will find it. Still, they are God's children and should be treated as such, because we will answer for what we do and how we treat others. The bible speaks of many wars and they were necessary to destroy heathens to preserve God's people and it is still going on today and as we are living in the end times, the wars will be many but God's word is reachinbg the entire world.

I've always found the study of world religions to be quite fascinating.

While I do not believe in either Buddhism or Hinduism, I think that both are very interesting religions.

My sister-in-law is Hindu & I get along with her very well.

Wow- it is obvious by a lot of the answers here by Christians they are largely ignorant of other religions. Buddhists don't pray to statues. Buddhism was around long before Christianity. Buddhism is not idolatry, nor a sin by any other definition in the bible. (Again, it was around a long time before the new testament).
My understanding of Christianity is they believe there is one way, and one way only- accepting JC as your personal saviour- to be saved- to get to heaven. And if you don't, you are condemned to hell. Thus, it is the aim of Christianity to convert believers in other religions in order to "save them". Unfortunately, in the real world, this often comes off as largely intolerant toward other belief systems.

I wish you all peace and love.

They don't think much of them. Even though it can be shown that Christianity has ripped off many of their beliefs from these and other older religions. That's because they are blinkered in their view of the world, looking at everything based on texts that are basically fairy tales dressed up as religion.

I met a Buddhist Nun last year so studied up on her faith so I could understand her better. From my understanding, Buddha never claimed to be God, just an enlightened one that you should follow. Apparently there are offshoot Buddhist groups that claim he was in order to mimic Christianity but this is not Authentic. Hinduism I am not up on.

Inbuilt in every human since they were first created, is the desire to worship and serve a god. Also, we are born with the need to do good. However, when the conection between man and God was broken at the fall, man had to seach for his own god to serve. Thus, other religions were born.
