My dark roots are badly showing, the blonde has faded, leaving a copper tint with no life to the hair, it looks dull and unhealthy. Im going to redye it using a home kit, normally i section my hair off into quarters using equal amounts of dye on the roots, this does work but never gives out the full 100% coverage, is there any other tips of how i can get the most usage out of my hair-dying home kit?

First of all, shake the hair dye very well before applyin.
Alot of folks forget to do that.
Put the rubber gloves on and squirt in in your roots rubbin
it in with gloves on...u need not separate hair. Leave on
20-30 min. , after that, run a little water with gloves on now.
and foam it up some , then, rinse good....hair should do great.
put cotton in ears, so it wont run in ears....watch eyes.

you have 3 different base shades needing 3
different colours, one solution (the best) is to
have a really good trim or better still a cut
that will take away the most damaged ends
leaving the mid section and roots use a product that lighten on ONLY THE ROOTS
starting at the nape and working up the head
eg - the nape is the coolest part of the head and takes longest.
when the roots are a simaler colour to the mids
and ends about 15-25 Min's wash with mild
shampoo and dry
then apply a toning colour first to the mid length
and ends then to the roots last . develop for the time in instructions and add water to lather
up and rinse till water runs clear put on really
rich conditioner and combe through with big tooth combe wrap head in cling film and leave 15 Min's rinse off and style

Alot of the answers are right on the button, and what I do to stretch out my hair color is to put some shampoo in it after I have applied it to the roots. This is a soap cap technique that I learned in beauty school. I only want to apply the color to the middle and ends of the hair shaft. This also helps to eliminate the "line" look if the color is not the same shade used previously.

if my hair was looking like that i would take it to a professional.when i dye my hair i just take a lot of dye and start rubbing into the root, section by section and then i do the bottom part last.this seems to work for me and it covers my roots.

well do it like at the salon, first do your roots, then spilt your hair up and paint the dye in and let it sit for longer then usual to get blonde you could just bleach it, and then deep condition it. its easier then dying

get a friend who's a hairdresser to apply it for you. Good job done and you get to have a girly night while doing it. Don't drink too much wine though till you've finished the dye job!!!
