The old testament, in some parts, is a re-hash of several older religious beliefs. The Eden, was nicked from older religions, as was the Flood, Adam and Eve and the Devil. Remember to read the first books of the old testament as a fairy story, and it will become more understandable. For instance, the original creation of the earth, in seven days, was written in cruciform, long before the Jews started it, and it refers to the Gods making man and woman in their image, and the Gods separating light and dark, etc. While many people will object to this, they are living in a fantasy world to believe in the old testament as anything other than rules to live, eat and survive in a hot climate.

The stories in the bible are based on very old oral traditions from pre-historic times. Those people had no idea the Americas even existed.

The people got to the Americas by migrating from other parts of the world.

some think that they walked across the bearing straits, but I see no reason for them not to have used boats, the continents are very close up there and the seas were lower back then, about ten thousand years most likely time frame. And the bible is not an accurate historical document, even to events in Roman times that we have official records of.

Adam and Eve is fiction, as well as many things in the Bible. It was created by people who did understand science and needed a way to rationlize unexplainable events (at that time) to the masses.

Um, If you read the Bible you will notice that it is primarily a history of Middle Eastern peoples, and stops recording history at about the year 60 or so A.D.

It's not going to cover your question, try an anthropology forum

It does..they were created first, before Adam and Eve.

I know this is unpopular, but here goes. Carefully read Genesis:

Gen 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

Gen 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Gen 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

Please notice that on the 6th day the men and women (Adam meaning mankind in Hebrew) were created at the same time and were given dominion over the 'earth or rather the 'wild' things of the earth. They were created AFTER the vegetation and the animals 'of the earth', and were the hunter-gatherer tribes. We call them paleolithic in our history books.

Gen 2:5 And every plant of the FIELD before it was in the earth, and every herb of the FIELD before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and [there was] not a man to till the ground.

Gen 2:6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Gen 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

On the 8th day, eth-ha-Adam, or "that man Adam" in the Hebrew, is talking about a specific man - a FARMER of the FIELD. Notice he was created BETWEEN the vegetation of the 'field' and the animals of the 'field'. And only after the animals of the 'field' were created, Eve was given to him.

Two very different accounts of creation going on here. Adam, or eth-ha-Adam was created to be a 'husbandman' or FARMER, what we call neolithic man. Adam and Eve were the first of the Hebrew bloodline, and had a specific purpose. Eve became the 'mother of all living' because through her bloodline came Christ and in him all of God's children, including the 6th day native tribal peoples have a chance for eternal life.
It isn't because we all come genetically from Eve.

Ummmmmmm, the setting of the "story". It's not necessary information either. Good writing leaves out details that have no meaning or impact on the story.
