I have a number of health problems including heart failure, peripheral artery disease in my right leg, and I had my left leg amputated about 3.5 years ago, along with a few other more minor things like skin cancer.
Many people it seems just don't know what to say, or how to act. I never mind people asking about my prosthetic leg, but most just seem to stare. I cant move as fast as most anymore, and physical activities are not as easy as they once were. People that are with me doing anything have to adapt to my capabilities. Some can do that, some aren't willing to.
I have had women tell me that they just can't get involved with someone that is likely to continue having serious problems or even to die. Seems everyone has their own issues to deal with and don't want to be part of yours too.
Hang in there. Just keep trying, and keep doing things you like to do - for you. I have found it is easy to isolate myself from others, and then I will have a 0% chance of meeting anyone. Don't give in to that and cut yourself off from life.

This is one point where glaring differences in approach of modern medicine and ayurveda crop up. IN alternative sciences, one feels weak immune system leads to diseases, while in modern medicine, infections govern the progress of diseases. Infections are communicable according to mainstream medicine. This scares people. Diagnoses are not certain. who knows what disease your friend may have, and if disease is communicable, yu will also get it. This fear, plus added burden in case diseased friend needs money for treatment, he will depndent on yuo, and who would like to shell down money if it is not certain it will be returned? Man, as an intelligent animal is too quick to estimate future and withdraw from friendship much before friendship becomes too demanding, taxing, or a loosing proposition.
Another reason is this. When one is in company of sick person, unless his bio-energy,prana called ki or chi inorient countries is strong, the sick person draws energy from you. This many know and therefore they withdraw from the company. ONly nurses are the godesses who do not bother about this energy balance, since the concept of serving others gives such a bliss that this loss of energy is immaterial for them.

I'd advise you not to tell them until you know them really well.
I have a serious medical condition that only my family and my boss know about. The only friends who know about it are people I've known well for more than about 5 years.
Your health is your own business, and you don't have to tell people unless you want to.
I don't want to be known of as the person who has ..., so I don't tell people until I completely trust them.
All the best - stay healthy!

yeah, it's partially out of vanity. but, mostly it's because of that person(the person making the judgment of the medically impaired) having issues themselves. insecurity. self-esteem problems. closed minded. ignorant.
you meet the "good people" once you have the permanent filter like a medical problem in place.

Youre coming into contact with the wrong people. You dont want those friends anyway. If your condition is scary to other people than dont tell them until they are close with you. Most people wont just give you up after a bond is made. Those are the real friends.

the reason is that people are naturally beauty-oriented....
though being beauty -oriented is good..
it also causes many bad effects..
one of which is that people are so concern to beauty, that they cannot accept those who may not possess one..or those who are physically or medically impaired...
and this results to great mockery..
and that is what your "friends" is showing...

I don't see why anyone would care...unless it's contagious.
