Yes both build biceps equally. The difference between the two is improving your grip and forearms by using the more uncomfortable position.

Any back exercise will also activate the biceps. Changing the angle of your wrist will activate different parts of your bi's. Change it up and your bis will pop. Dont think these will get you big arms though. Do arm exercies for big arms. Pullups is a back and core exercise. It will get you a good back and neck and abs mostly.
