My husband walks in on me all the time. Its not that I'm embarrassed but at the same time I don't want to socialize at that time. Yuck. I'm not at my best sitting on a toilet and he wants to talk about something, or God forbid, he wants to come kiss me. But it doesn't matter what I say beyond being totally rude to him, so I just throw my hands up and deal with it. But I cross the line at kissing me and stuff. No way. Blah. LOL
So my answer is, I don't think its rude in a marriage, but not the most appropriate thing either.

Yes! Nobody is ready for company while seated on that throne.
It is impatient and rude to walk in on anybody in the bathroom, unless they have left the door open. Any closed door should be knocked on, and not opened unless the person inside says "Come in."

yes it is rude. Quality time would be snuggling on the couch watching a favorite movie, etc ...... question for you, do you respect your wife's right to privacy?, (especially in the bathroom)

Marriage offers little enough privacy as it is. The bathroom should be a little island of temporary home privacy.

Everyone should respect the privacy of someone in the bathroom. Someone noted that marriage has little enough privacy as it is, so what there is should be respected.

'What if he wants to spend quality time with her?'
While she's peeing? Yeah, I think it's rude.

If it's unintentional, it's not rude, but sticking around might be.
If it's intentional, whether it's rude or not depends on what they have previously agreed on.
