I'm a junior at an all boys high school so most of the time I only see girls (mostly from the all girls schools near us) at the school dances.

go up, introduce yourself, and start a friendly conversation. If she seems friendly, ask her if she would like to dance with you (it's what she's there for...). Dances are a social way to meet new people with similar interests, and we go to them to do just that. No promises or commitments, just a dance, and go from there.

Approach her and introduce yourself. Make some small talk. If she's looking at you instead of all around the room, just ask her. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Either way, life goes on.

Walk up and ask them. Be straightforward and confident. Girls don't like wimps.
