As a christian, is there a possibility to still goto heaven even after you've murdered a person, or even people? How about if it was out of defense, and it just happened? Or what if it was for revenge? How about pure anger? How about all of these together? Answers Please!

If a person repents of their sin and accepts Jesus Christ as lord, then nothing that they did in the past can prevent them from having a relationship with God in heaven. When God looks at His children, He doesn't see their iniquities any longer, rather He sees the blood of His Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross so that all men could choose to be free from the bondages and consequences of sin which is death.

I'm going to cheat a bit on this one. I didn't write this. I received this as an email forward. My comment follows.

Prescribed by the Great Physician
*****************************
The next time you feel like GOD can't use you, just remember...
Noah was a drunk
Abraham was too old
Isaac was a daydreamer
Jacob was a liar
Leah was ugly
Joseph was abused
Moses had a stuttering problem
Gideon was afraid
Samson had long hair and was a womanizer
Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
Elijah was suicidal
Isaiah preached naked
Jonah ran from God
Naomi was a widow
Job went bankrupt
Peter denied Christ
The Disciples fell asleep while praying
Martha worried about everything
The Samaritan woman was divorced, more than once
Zaccheus was too small
Paul was too religious
Timothy had an ulcer..AND
Lazarus was dead!

And the point is...

These were all "godly" people. Many of them were in Jesus' own bloodline. It really isn't the quality or quantity of our sin that will "keep us out of heaven." It's our relationship with God that matters.

Well, it all depends on if you believe that the Kings James Translation is the correct Translation. Allegedly, the original Hebrew translation was mistranslated, because the meanings of words change over the centuries, as well as they often have different meanings. The, You shall no kill, commandment, has been by several scholars been re-translated as meaning, that you will not murder others. Still other scholars have suggested that even this is not correct, but should be, you will not kill those of your tribe, or belief.

Still, many believe that killing in self defense is justified, and have suggested sections of the original old testaments suggested so, before first being translated into Greek, then Latin, and finally English.

Revenge, according to the Bible is God's, however according to the same texts he has occasionally sanctified revenge by his followers. Anger, don't know what to say about that, unless you believe that God filled you with Justifiable Anger, and therefore you killed in his name.

I wouldn't use it as a defense in court though. Unless you are going to a sharia court to be tried. And then, you are likely to be stoned to death anyway.

As a Christian we should not continue in sin but thing do happen. Romans 6: 1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? Romans 6: 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? The only thing I can tell you is that the Lord Jesus Christ died for your sins and if you truly believe and trust in that then you will never go to hell no matter what you have done. When you believe the Holy Spirit baptize you into His body. 1 Corinthians 12: 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. The Holy Spirit seals you. Ephesians 1: 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, The Holy Spirit circumcises you by cutting the soul from the body. Colossians 2: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: You become the Temple of God. 1 Corinthians 3: 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If the Holy Spirit did all these things for you, how could you ever loose your salvation?

The bible says Thou shalt not Murder... remember that part first it's not thou shalt not kill it's murder.... as in cold blood or revenge. This doesn't include say an accident, self defense or if your a soldier in a war. What keeps one out of heaven is not so much the sin... but the refusal to acknowledge your need to repent for those sins... Refusing to admit you were wrong and that you need The Lord's help.
God is powerful enough and forgiving enough... that he can forgive even a serial killer if that person truly realizes what they have done and comes humbly for forgiveness. That means that your sins are washed you no longer need pay for the Spiritual consequences for that sin... however... That doesn't mean that person will not still have to deal with the Earthy consequences (going to jail or what have you).
The bare bones of it... What truely keeps one out of heaven is the refusal to admit that we need God... that we need a savior in Jesus Christ... It's basically saying I don't need you God and I don't want to spend eternity with you... So he gives you what you wanted... to spend eternity with out him...and since here on earth weither we acknowlege him or NOT He is with us always. And the absence of God (since we were disigned to be with him) is what causes the torture of the hell...
Hope this answers your question
God bless you and keep you always.

God can forgive ANY sin, even murder. The big question is the sinner's attitude. Is your killer sincerely sorry for what he/she did? Does he/she come before God with an honest heart? Or is he/she just hoping for a "get out of jail free" pass?
There really is alot more to being a Christian than just buying "fire insurance".

YES! Anyone can go to heaven, despite what they have done. That is the meaning of Grace. Jesus made this clear as he looked to the man next to him as he was dying and said, "today you will join me in paradise" He said that to a criminal. The message he brought was that if you can go to heaven if you have faith in him, and that you ask his forgiveness for your sins. Paul goes into this further in Romans 6:14 for a while. He says you are freed by God's grace. Of course, he goes on to say that you should not keep on sinning to get more grace. But the point is clear, you ARE forgiven as a free gift of grace, you have the choice of accepting it, and repenting, but you are still forgiven.

Yes you will still go to Heaven! Jesus said that all manner of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven (except blasphemy against the Holy Ghost) It is to be remembered that there are only 2 types of sinners in this world, the saved and the unsaved. You must take Jesus at his word as he means what he says!

Tough question. I'll try my best. Of course we all know that "though shalt not murder." I think it is important to remember that Jesus said that to HATE someone is the same as murder.

As Christians we believe that God can forgive any sin. We must also remember that God is the final judge of these things

I think if someone is truly repentant of anything they have done God can forgive them. I also believe that any person who has done something like that and is now trying to live for God should bring themself to the authorities.

Just thoughts

There is only one sin that God will not forgive, which is rejection of the gift of salvation. Ask for forgiveness, and you will receive it. You will still face the consequences of your actions, and you will stand before God one day to attest to your mistakes. But if you are a true child of God, meaning you have accepted the salvation of Jesus Christ and given your life to Him, then you are saved for eternity, no matter what.

This is not reason to go out and kill someone though, so don't take it that way.
