We're not and we don't.

We are mammals who are basically driven by instinct. We dress it up with fancy words like desire, emotion, belief and Love but at the heart of it they are very basic instincts.

Religion is a coping mechanism for fear. Fear of the unknown neatly explained but never actually answered. Most of the 'believers' are too afraid to consider the alternatives.

I'm not afraid to accept I could be wrong and I'm not so arrogant as to think I must be right. Open your mind and see if you are capable of the same.

No?... I didn't think so.

Change can be positive or negative. Humanity is at an impass currently - on the brink of changing for one way or another.

There are many intelligent people in this world, and many that are not so blessed. Intelligence is not necessarily a basis for rational thinking. You will have some people with great intellect who cannot even hold a normal conversation, and some people who may not have a high IQ, but have some amazing insight into life

Someone disagreeing with another's viewpoint does not negate their intelligence. Throughout history, people have been frightened of things that challange what they have always known or felt to be true. Think of the shocking revelations about germs and how reluctant some people were to abolish slavery.

Science and religion are topics that should go hand in hand, but have unfortunately been used against each other, which I think has impeded the progress of both. Science has not always been right, and there have been points that have had to be recanted or redefined throughout history. Much of what becomes accepted in the scientific community as fact is actually theory, without proof. Inasuch, people are believing in something based on faith. The same can obviously be said for religion. (For the record, I am a supporter of both.)

The best thing about being an "intelligent being" is the ability to think for one's self, with the possession of rationale being the cornerstone of existance. Without differing opinions, life would be mute and learning could not take place.

I believe that no one can ever completely know the truth 100% - there always has to be room for error. But if you have ultimate confidence in your beliefs - faith, if you will - then rest assured the truth will be known eventually.

Best wishes.

As intelligent beings, we look at the evidence.

Consider the perfect order of our solar system, galaxy, and the known Universe. Consider the enormous complexity and power of the human brain. Consider the balance that exists in nature.

Consider that all these things make our existence possible.

When we are open-minded, we can see that all things denote that there is a God. We may not accept it, but we must admit that the evidence is there.

These truths lead us to have confidence in the existence of God, even though we don't have a perfect knowledge.

Perhaps the greatest evidence comes when we search our own hearts.

How can we as "Intelligent Beings", believe that a God Does not exist?

But can you prove He does not?

No, apparently you can't.

You can't say because we cannot see Him, He does not exisit. Because the answer will be If we See Him then what test would our life be; we would all go to Heaven without really doing anything. Life is a test, it wouldn't be one if all the answers were there for us.

As 'Intelligent Beings' we can not prove there is no God. Because we can never have the answers to where did everything come from, even the particles of the so called Big bang had to come from some where, and then the particles of those particles had to come from somewhere and so forth.

Thats why its called Faith. Not believing in God only shows that you don't believe anything you see around you like the sky, birds, etc.

We have too much faith in our 'intelligence'! We believe that we know better than anyone else outside our western world and in the past. They know/knew what is truly important. All that is important to us is money, sex and ultimately self gratification. If we are so intelligent why have we made such a mess and have so many social problems. We are completely out of touch with what is important. We must accept simplicity in our live and faith is crucial in reaching this piont.

What most people think is 'God' is actually religion! Faith and religion are not the same thing at all. Religion is an insituition of rules and human authority/power, Jesus came to rubbish those institutions but man has rebuilt them in his name. Probably what you dismiss as 'God' is actually a product of man, so you are dismissing man not God! You must invest a lot of time and effort in finding the Truth, the closer you get the happier you will become. This happiness is immpossible to understand if you reject it because it is the opposite of what you have been told.

Money is not happiness, throw your money away and you will begin to understand!

How can we as "intelligent beings" not believe that God exist?

To believe that a world as complex as ours could exist apart from God is crazy.

Some don't. We are intelligent but our minds are way to big for that matter.

Also I would like to ask how the Earth came to being, I know you will say the big bang, but what caused that? And what caused that? And what caused that?

There are so many things you have yet to understand, and I think before asking a question why not ponder some of the religions? See for yourself, what they reply! I'm sure there is a Church near you and a Synagogue and a mosque, maybe even a temple. Why not ask the monks/priests etc?

How can an "intelligent being" exist without God?

As an 'intelligent being' how can you question that which gives people hope?

How many other words, all positive, explain the meaning of God to people.

I'm not a firm believer myself, but I would never take away the hope that believing in God gives people.
