It depends. If a Christian lives on "blind faith" then they are the sheep. However, there have been many who have questioned their beliefs, and as a result some became atheists while others remained Christians (or may have converted to another faith). For those who continue their belief in God, it requires a lot of faith and discipline to live a good life. It requires effort to go to church and perform church duties, like visiting the sick, the needy, and sharing the gospel. It's not always easy. On the other hand, atheists are free to live their live as they please. There is no god that they need to follow, and the only rules are the ones set by the government of the land they live in. They don't worry about resisting temptation because they don't belief the consequences of sin are real. On the surface, atheism appears to be a more self-gratifying, more attractive, and easier lifestyle than Christianity. In fact, many of today's Christians actually live a rather atheistic lifestyle, because they do not conform to the laws of their God. My personal thoughts are that every person, whether atheist or believer, should question their own beliefs at some point and discover the truth for themselves.

an atheist denies the existence of God as do "the masses" When one becomes a christian, he actually knows that God exists and follows his teachings. If there is any "denial" of Gods existence by former Christians, then that makes them sinners, not atheists by definition.

I was never a Christian, or any other religion, before deciding that all evidence made it impossible to be anything other than an atheist.

Religion has always been about power and controling the masses. Convince a large group to believe the same Woo-Woo fiction and they'll follow you anywhere.

interesting question.
in both categories we have those who blindly follow because they are ignorant (not stupid) of the world outside their belief.
i am a Christain although i also consider myself somewhat of a AMATEUR scientist.
i have to accept the fact that i see micro evolutions in animals and plants. i reject however, the idea that a snake or other reptile (i.e. dinosaur) layed a egg one day and a chicken appeared.
Atheists (whom i dont consider evil) do, in my opinion tend to be a little more of the "herd mentality" because they do not investigate God as much as i and other members of the clergy acedemics study science.
i personally believe that it takes much more faith to cry "evolution" than it takes to espouse "God".

Christians:
George W Bush is president. If it wasn't for the conservative Christian extreme, he would have been impeached.
Any questions?
