I'm very fortunate to have a Sony Ericsson Z600 which gives you the option of calling someone and hiding your Id so the call shows up on the person's phone as private or unknown depending on their cellphone. Either done that I haven't seen any other way to do it that contacting you cellphone company.

sometimes you have to call the company so they can do it because when me and my friends try the *67 from cell phones it doesn't work...
