I should have elaborated, but what I mean is, cigarettes are legal, and they can kill you. If the government regulated the drugs, like they do alcohol then maybe it could work making them legal. I don't do drugs, but it's a question that plagues me. I just don't understand. If a person chooses to do the drugs, let them. It's their fault if they run their life into the sewer. People end up in jail because of selling them and having drugs on them and we, the taxpayers have to pay for them to stay there. If the government would make them legal, drug dealers would be out of a job. That's another plus.

Because irresponsibile people get behind the wheel of a car and end up killing people. They ruin it for the rest of us who just want to enjoy our drugs at home, while camping, etc.

Drugs make you feel good when you're high, but then they kill you slowly and damage relationships. They are also dangerous because of the things people do under the influence.

Also, if everyone used drugs cuz they were legal, many people would become junkies, addicts, living only to get high and never really being interested in a productive life as a member of society. So drugs could potentially turn useful youths and helpful people into useless junkies with few goals, skills, or a willingness to work and better the world.

Drugs make a person feel good for a very short time, after a couple of times, the person becomes addicted to the drug. That means that I he doesn't get more and more of the drug he sweats and feels all kind of pain until he gets more of the dope.
I know that the next thing you'll ask is,"What's wrong with that, just get more and more"? The reason you can't do that is because the drug is destroying the brain. That's where the "high" comes from.
People who use illegal drugs for a long time become zombies, their bodies are wrecked, and their brain is useless to them.
So that's why they're illegal. Other that rotting the brain and crippling the body, they're okay.

I believe government could control access to drugs. That would eliminate a lot of criminality and save a lot of money. The selling of drugs by the government could hint it as to who are abusing those substances as well as generate money instead of spending it fighting against it. I would accept such a system only if the profits were used to help drug addicts get back to a healthy lifestyle. It wouldn't be ethical at all to let drug abuse go on and tolerate it just because it generates more money for the government than it may costs in health services.
Also, I feel you are being really hard on those people who do drugs when you say that it's all up to them, that it concerns only them if they want to throw their life in the sewers. If you knew all of what these people have been through, perhaps you would show more empathy.

I agree all drugs should be legal. If people sell drugs to minors, they should do heavy time. First offense ten years, second offense life. You pointed out the inconsistency between liquor and marijuana. The liquor industry is opposed to legalization of drugs since it will cut into their profits. The law makers decide whether drugs are legal or not and they have their own agenda. Many people are hypocrites. An example is that most baby boomers oppose the legalization of marijuana even though they smoked a ton of it.

well-drugs are dangerous when u take a look somebody will start with some easy drugs and u r right they will feel good but just because they feel good they wont be able to stop and there is a problem-they r destroying ur body and u know that but u can not stop.easy drugs make u "fly" and after some time u r already destroyed and u start to think about it-then u need something "to get u to earth" (and u wont ask for help just to be sure) then u start with HEROIN (remmember Curt C.).Heroin gets u to earth. One friend told me(he is on drugs):"I tried Heroin and I don't remmember what happened later,I just remmember when I woke up" so as u can see heroin is very dangerous-to move on- when u start with heroin u r already on the bottom;first u use less and with time more and more and more.......then one day u just dont wake up
now think about it...

It started back after slavery ended when cocaine was used by alot of people and it was legal, the crazy whites decided they didnt want the black man to be able to partake in the fun, so they made up this story that "high" black men were running around raping white women and made it illegal, the other drugs followed afterward, they always found some excuse to criminalize each drug that came out. most drugs were legal at some point, LSD, Extasy.

Because just because something makes you feel good doesn't mean it is good for you - health wise - or that you act responsible or safe when under the influence of it. Drugs make you feel good temporarily but can do a lot of harm to your health, relationships, bank account, job, family, and innocent strangers if you drive or hurt them while under the effects of drugs.

you might be talking about regulated drugs. these drugs are regulated not really prohibited. it's ilegal to buy them without prescription.it's because these drugs don't just make you feel good. they can potentially damage your body or cause you to damage or 'hurt' another person. people who take these drugs should only do so under the right supervision of doctors and loved ones. never privately.
