I recomend both, we got a kitten and a german shepherd at about the same time, they are best buds and very amusing to watch an 8 pound cat attack a 90 pound dog and not get torn apart.

I prefer dogs. They tend to be more interactive with their humans. I do like cats, but they are more independent and tend to stay to themselves more than dogs. I love the attention I get from my two little dogs. The dogs certainly takes more work and cleaning up after, but they are worth the extra work.
Both cats and dogs are very playful, especially the young ones.
If you don't have much time for clean up and attention, choose the cat. But if you can spend time and energy, I would get a dog.

Dogs are WAY, WAY more work than cats. I love both of my pets but my cat is alot less work. She is also super playful and loving. She is such a neat cat. She loves to play fetch, go figure. Every time I come home she greets me at the door and is not happy until I pick her up and cuddle her for a little bit. I love my dog too and she is great and does all the stuff a dog should do, but my cat is really an amazing animal.

I prefer cats.
Dogs ARE more playful, which is why i like cats. They both take about the same amount of cleaning up, except cats are in the litter box and dogs are usually in the backyard.

Cats will occasionaly have a hairball..which is really disgusting...

but all in all..i prefer cats!

I have both. Cats are very independent and need little care and dogs need a lot of care and attention. I have 2 cats and 1 dog and thinking about getting another dog. Dogs are more play full then cats. Cats are play full when still kittens but once they get full grown that goes away and dogs well dogs are always ready for a game of fetch.

I perfer a dog they are so loving, and playful. They really do require more work than a cat would. You have to take them out for a walks. They must be groomed, but with all animals you must take them to the vet. I recommend that you do some research on both animals to determine what best fits your lifestyle. Good Luck !!!

I have shelties and I used to have a cat. Cats are easier. They pretty much take care of themselves and are playful and friendly on THEIR terms. I prefer my dogs. The love me, are playful, are happy to see me, are always busy and into things. They are much, much better than TV. I have 2 puppies playing with my toes right now. They are more work but that is part of their fun (molly, quit tearing up that paper)!!

Dogs. Dogs are mans best friend for a reason. Cats are evil and will run and hide when you are in trouble. Where a dog will remain at your side or bark, or do something, where a cat will do nothing. Dogs can be trained and a cat really is useless.

As you can tell by my username I love dogs! I think dogs take more work but cats probobly need more cleaning up because you have to clean out their litterboxes and you need to groom them more often than dogs. Dogs are definatly more playful. Cats usually just stay by themselves because cats are independent and dogs need love and affection to be happy.

I perfer dogs much much more!!!
It's much more loyal than a cat, and it's temperament is much better in my opinion- the cat will only come to you when IT needs love and attention, and won't let you pet it otherwise, while a dog is always ready to play and spend some time with you no matter what! Also you can train a dog to help you out in some jobs.
