A perfect example is thid dr. dino character. He is a self-proclaimed scientist with no credentials. He has 'scientific' theories that dispute evolution, dispute an older earth, and say the Grand Canyon was made by the Noah flood. A high school science student can pick apart any of them, but the fundies believe this junk wholeheartedly because it seemingly supports their ideas. I mean the guy thinks the Earth is only 10,000 years old and dinosaurs walked with man (and people still believe anything he says!) It's really sad that people in this country are so ignorant and gullible.

Why do non-Christians fund bogus science and then claim the results are some kind of evidence?

They obviously feel threatened by science e.g. carbon dating, palaeontology, especially if they are the kind that take the Bible literally and believe the earth is about 4000 years old rather than about 4 billion years old. And then there are the intelligent design fanatics who like to claim they aren't actually arguing that God was the creator, but really are just too stubborn to accept that evolution happened naturally, and are too thick to grasp the concept of natural selection. Frankly if you need to create bogus science, then your faith couldn't be too great to begin with or you wouldn't feel the need to do so. If they had lived a few hundred years ago, they would be burning people for saying the earth was round.

They are afraid of science because of a lack of knowledge. I am a Christian, and a chemist. I don't like many of the "arguments" many christians like to claim, because they are weak compared to the conclusions of scientists who work on evolutionary experiments. I do not find that science disproves God, but on the contrary, provides evidence for the need of a God to make it all (biochemistry, molecular biology, themodynamics, microbiology, chemistry, etc, I have studied them all). But, on the same token, many people claiming to be scientific will draw out bogus arguments in the bible just because they are unmentioned, like dinosaurs, or because they feel by taking something out of context, it will prove a point.

Define "bogus science" first, then maybe you'll get a more specific answer to your question; at this point, it's rather vague.

In this world, people are constantly looking for solid answers to questions on God. No matter what a Christian finds as truth, there will be someone who will attempt to refute that answer. In the end, it will come down to this....is your faith in God enough, no matter what the world says? If you don't believe, or are not sure you want to, God will honor your stance. That's the nature of Him....He will honor your free choice, even if it means it's not in alignment for what He has in mind for you.

Your question leads me to believe that you're not sure what (or who) you believe in. Before you die, you will find that you must believe in something; even if you choose to believe in nothing, that is still the choice you've made....a choice against belief in God. What do you choose to believe in, God, or in your finite mind and body?

Isn't this also the same religion that tried to persuade us that some dude build a ship big enough to hold two of every animal alive? The same religion that promotes arson (the burning bush and all that)? The same religion that said that a few loaves of bread and some fish could feed 5 thousand (ok, if they were all supermodels, then maybe!). Seems par for the course really...

don't be a dipstick !!! All faiths, beliefs, agencies pay "researchers" who're "scientists" to teach inspite of they need to. the unhappy element is that those of consumer-pleasant intelligence have a tendency to believe what they're advised beacause "there is clinical evidence". Its an same with faith. in simple terms because someone recorded what somone idea someone stated or did centuries earlier, then that proves their faith is sweet!!! So its not in simple terms christians. who use bogus technological expertise. Islam, Judaism and Christianity were all derived from Abraham so it relies upon the position you stay as to who were given the information accurate.

I don't believe in god so I guess I am an atheist. But that is my choice and that is what I truly believe.

Religious people cannot prove, and Scientists cannot disprove, the existence of god, heaven, hell etc... Because there is no proof either way, this type of arguement is a classic and will continue for years and years.

Why don't people just believe what they believe in and leave it at that. This type of arguement is pointless and gets you nowhere.

I am a christian...just thought id throw that out there---

I think christians are scared that science (as an alleged opponant to faith) is taking control of our society. (which it is)

They are scared that science may shake the foundations of their faith.

HOWEVER, i believe that science is a wonderful tool for us to explore and learn about God's creation. Even if science seems to "disprove" something in the Bible, if find it exciting. We get to dig deeper and challenge ourselves as to what we believe, and wrestle with God over the issues.

They are trying to fight science with science, rather than faith in scripture and try to point out faults in scientific theories that are plausible to make them seem less plausible/unlikely. It is a reaction to liberal interpretations of scripture which is destroying the classical theist view of God and giving a God of the gaps (at best,) which they believe is not worthy of worship and a blasphemous notion.
