You are the only one who can do something about that situation. Step up and tell them to quit or at least buy some smokeless ashtrays/air filters.

I have no idea and always ask myself the same thing. I smoke cigarettes and NEVER smoke around children. I smoke outside, in another room if needs be, etc. I think that is very selfish and lazy and it's not hard to go outside and smoke a cigarette and still keep an eye on the children.

I am a smoking mother. I have two small children and the rule has always been no smoking in the house or the car. I don't even care if there's a natural disaster going on outside. If you're going to smoke you do it outside. Its up to the person smoking to hurt their own bodies but hurting someone that can't even understand the problem shouldn't be forced to deal with it. It angers me so much seeing people selfish enough to smoke around a child.

If this child has an illness that is exasperated by exposure to smoke, perhaps child protective services can intervene. Children should not be in life threatening environments (no exaggeration here) because adults attribute stupid powers to cigarettes. They will become wrinkled, stinky and ugly as the result of the smoke and make a poor baby who cannot leave the environment very sick. LOSERS.

To answer the question of why: Well years ago it was ignorance. I was born in 78 and I grew up around my mom's smoking all the time. My sister who was born in 94 got lucky. By the time she came along, lots of info on second hand smoke had been in the media. My mom went cold turkey when sis was a toddler. It still took her that long, nicotine being an addiction, but she did it. Anyone who smokes around kids now, know better. They've just got to get disciplined about it.

Some people just parent differently...the best you can do is tell them the risks. I know parents who stick their children in the car without using a car seat. I find this to be very irresponsible and lazy. It doesn't mean that they don't love their children though.
I am a smoker, but I do not smoke around my child. I smoke outside...and do not smoke in the car if she's with me. For me...it's more about respecting her....she has a right to breath air that's not filled with smoke.

Explain to them that they're gonna have to pay their child's medical bills later in life! I have a bad asthma problem because my mother smoked around me when I was a child. Tell them to take some responsibility and create an outside area to smoke that's not near the baby. Geez, some people...

I am a smoker and I also have two kids. I do not smoke in my house at all with them, and I do not smoke in my car at all. Any parent that does smoke with them right there needs to be kicked in the butt, That is very dangerous to the kids because second hand smoke is worse then smoking them self's.

I suggest you either learn to spell or use the check spelling feature. it's not collage which is a piece of art made up of different pictures of different textures...it is college, a place of higher learning.
It is not tubs...the place where one bathes but tubes, it's probaby not the fault of the smoking as the reason for the tubes. A lot of children have to have them becaue their ear canals are so small that the wax builds up and causes infections. It is the mother's choice whether to smoke or not...How she chooses to raise her child is none of your business.

How irresponsible! Don't they know that the smoke it's twice dangerous for the kid? I think you know the danger! You must tell them immediately how danger it is for the children. And cigarettes aren't good for their body, they won't be fat but they will be ugly, pale and get old faster. Scare the two women with these real consequences.

They're in denial just like the rest of the world, that second hand smoke causes harm to others. Keep on them make them feel guilty print up stories for them to read of the dangers of second hand smoke. This baby will grow up to have asthma or cancer if you don't keep on them. Good luck and God Bless you and this child.
