I am five months pregnant and due to have an ultrasound done to determin the sex of the baby in a couple of weeks, but first I thought it would be fun to try out some old wives tales for gender prediction to see if they might be correct. Does anyone know of any?

Not really old wives' tale, but you probably need to be at the later part of your pregnancy to see if this is true (By then, you would have found out from your gynae?)
Your tummy would be protruding more sharply when it's a boy. Flatter when it's a girl - That's my observation of my wife, as well as female colleagues, which confirmed this belief.
Some people say if you cannot see that a woman is pregnant from behind, it could be a boy; If you can tell a woman is pregnant from behind her, then it's a girl. This is also in line with the above prediction about the shape of tummy...

Well if you carry most of the pregnancy belly out front its a boy. If your weight is more dispersed and doesn't stick out as much a boy. My auntie thinks that if you conceived about a week after your last know period then the chances of a girl are higher. It also depends on the father. Look at his siblings. How many does he have, mostly brothers or sisters? My husband has another brother and we have 2 boys. I'm not sure if its been studied or not but its true for us. good luck in the coming months.

take a pencil a needle and thread thread the needle insert it into the eraser..hold it over your wrist.. circles tell of girls straight lines tell of boys..it will tell you how many children you are going to carry..(including miscarrages) the larger the circle or line the bigger the baby... Suspend your wedding ring from a cord (or any other ring these days!) hold it about six inches above your belly. If it swings in circles it's a girl. Straight back and forth a boy.

if you eat a lot of diary then you are having a girl if you eat alot of veggies then a boy. Eat both then your going to have both.

If you were on top when the baby was concieved, it's a girl.
If you were on bottom when the baby was concieved, it's a boy.
If you were doing it doggie style, you're having a puppy!
