There isn't an ideal number. It would depend on how he framed it. I'd certainly think he was a poser if he bragged about it but, otherwise, I wouldn't care too much either way. Generally, I'd prefer to consider the matter his own private business, and for us to keep having safer sex, rather than get into the potential competitiveness that kind of question can breed. Why should we count our lovers? It takes the fun out of sex and turns it into an exercise in conformity.
Of course, there is a little part of me that fantasises that every lover was waiting to be unwrapped like a lovely gift just for me. That part is, of course, irrational. Most people have a past. That's to be expected and it's a part of who we are.
How many lovers a person has had is a matter of interpretation anyway because people have different ideas about what kind of sex "counts" and what, apparently, does not.

How can any number be too many???
I am 30 and have been with about 15 women in the last 14 years. That is only around 1 per year, not alot.
I know guys my age or younger who have been with more than 15 women per year. That is alot.
If one has a problem with their partner's past then one should really sit back and take a good look at oneself.
I am in a monogamous relationship at the moment and my past has nothing to do with my girlfriend. Her past has nothing to do with me. It's the present and the future that matters.

There's not a specific number if every relationship had been meaningful and a proper relation. But maybe more than 5 would be a good measure for me to see that maybe he doesn't commit to relationships and instead of trying to resolve the problems it may appear he prefers to give up and start again.
If you mean one night stands, 2 is the limit, and still that number would be hard to handle. ANy more than that just lets me know that he doesn't respect women, relationships and it's not somebody you could trust.

every ones idea of acceptable is different....and i think it depends on over how many years too.....in 30 years i've been with 12 men.....is that acceptable?....for me all but 2 of those men were within a couple of years of each other,in the last 24 years i've only been with 3 men....
but these days you do have to be careful no matter how many you go with.....
these days it would come down to love as to wether or not i'd sleep with someone.....and if i loved that person it wouldnt matter how many there had been before me...as long as i was the only one now

Any number is too many, but basically the less the better.
No woman wants to think she is the latest in a long line of women, she will worry you are comparing her to lots of others

depends on their age and circumstances, being at uni myself i know lots of guys with high numbers but know that if they met the right girl they would be faithful. if its not going to affect the current relationship y should it matter, past is past 4 a reason and 2 many people forget that!

the more relationships a man has the better to make him the man most women want as long as it's one at a time you have to make them feel like they are the only thing that makes you want to get up in the morning

Just be honest, don't lie about it, if anything and if you're serious about a girl -offer to have an aids/std test done to show how much you care for her safety. She will be impressed. You don't want to lie or to hurt her in any way
