because they're idiots who either don't understand nutrition, or they feel some sense of responsibility to make even the slightest attempt to address their obesity.

Lmfaoooo that's HILARIOUS! It's true too! I was in the drive through trying to get a caramel sundae because I was craving somethign sweet and the guy in front of me is screaming at the lady in the window "NO, I WANT THE LARGE #1 WITH A DIET COKE, NOT REGULAR, OK? Oh can I also have some bbq sauce and mayonnaise?"

They are compensating for their other choices. There are the equivalent of 9 teaspoons of sugar in a regular Coke, after all. One of the easiest ways to cut back on sugar and calories is to drink something like diet drinks or water instead of regular soft drinks, fruit juices, sweet tea, etc.

It's still less calories then getting a normal coke.
People feel guilty for going to McDonald's in the first place so they "make-up" for it by getting diet coke.

I personally can't drink regular coke or pepsi. Too sweet. I like the taste of the diet version more.

good question, "yeah give me three big mac's a large fry and a diet coke." like there gonna say after they eat all that and then drink that diet coke, you know i feel so much healthier now after that diet coke, u bring up a great point

Well, that way the person only gains 1 kilo from having the meal insted of the 2 kilos they would gain if they had the un-diet coke.
