Science is built to be upgraded. The whole IDEA of science is meant to age along with humankind and better itself. Good thing too! Otherwise we'd still be sitting in caves and being eaten by tigers.

Religion, on the other hand, is believed. Not too much evidence really supports ANY religion. It allows you to get in touch with your past. But more importantly, it is supposed to feel like things are being explained. Answered. And it is meant to give you a feeling of safety and shelter, which is a basic human need.

Science and religion may sometimes seem not to mix. But as a christian, i have learnt that science only goes to verify the statements that the bible makes. But there are many many questions that are found in the Bible that science will neva get to answer, especially those that have to do with the spiritual nature of man and life after death.

Just shows that one can very smart in some areas, yet be so brainwashed in others that it is impossible to give up mistaken ideas. Religion does this to people. We are all indoctrinated, to a certain extent, by our culture, even if we don't grow up in a religious family. However, if this person grew up surrounded by people who prayed, went to church, taught religious doctrine, and constantly talked about their god as if he was real, then breaking out of that programming will be difficult. Most in the scientific community are atheist or agnostic, simply because their education leads them to reject God as a fantasy notion that is not supportable by modern research. Stephen Hawking once remarked something to the effect that the more we study the universe, the less need there is for God to exist in it.

Because the two are not mutually exclusive. The world, down to the tiniest aspects making up all matter, to the universe consisting of the largest aspects, is filled with wonder and beauty, horror and destruction. It is hard to not feel a little awe when faced with this.

Religious beliefs do not make for a bad scientist, and a scientific mind does not preclude having strong beliefs. Albert Einstein was Jewish, I believe...

I wonder that myself sometimes.
The only think I thought so far is maybe they just keep those two subjects apart.
Everything related to religion is kept in a safe glass protection and they don't even wonder why.
Everything else makes their creative mind ask any question and put it up to tests to prove it right.
But I also wonder how that is possible...

I couldn't not question my beliefs. The irony to your question...I still believe in Christ and what he has done to me. All of biochemistry, quantum theory, molecular biology, and chemistry points to intelligent design for me. And cobine that with my experiences where I know Christ has done something for me, because I can't find any other skeptical points that lead to other conclusions, that says it all for me. Jesus Christ is my savior, and my friend. And there are a lot of other scientists who agree.
BTW, I am a Chemist, and I went to grad school.
