There is currently a mental health crisis in the New Orleans metro area...lack of hospital beds, mental health providers and the state government is lacking in their response.

I am not talking just about New Orleans but the entire area surrounding it. That means all the parishes and the Mississippi Gulf Coast so don't put everybody in the same category as just the city of New Orleans which I know had many problems before Katrina.

Salvation Army World Services are on site doing all they can in this catastrophy..Please donate money or goods or time to this relief fund. Questions like this need to be resoveled by action.

Funny, I see in the local papers all sorts of programs for post-Katrina mental health programs.

They had a mental health problem before katrina - its called laziness. If getting these people help would get them off their butts and get a job, then sure I am all for it.

well the government might be a little jaded from helping them out and them misusing that help.. i dont know! people just left and theyre not making any plans to come back and that includes some doctors.. and thats a shame
