Between 1 1/2 to 2 years old is a good time to switch to adult food.

You should switch around the time when it turns 12 months old. That is when they are considered an adult. At that time they don't need as many vitamins and things because even though it will still be growing it be growing as much as when it was a puppy. It won't make a huge difference when you switch but you should switch before it turns the age of about 18 months.

It's really not the best thing for a kitten. Cats and dogs have different nutritional needs. Grazing isn't really the best thing for dogs anyways because they are more likely to overeat. Just put the dogs food down when he needs to eat. That way he'll eat it all up right away before the cat can get at it. Put the kitten's food down in a different place than the dog's food so she won't be near the dog's food when eating.

You should check with your vet or pet store, but I have been told that age one year is a good time for that switch.

"Puppy" feed is just a marketing ploy. Use adult from weaning on.
