Not in the UK - it's arecognition that we're a multicultural society and so religiously diverse.
You can take a pledge to tell the truth if you're an atheist. I'm actually not sure about other faith groups.

Actually, the right to affirm rather than swear was won in the courts by the Quakers long ago. They were represented by the ACLU at the time. To assume that everyone who enters a courtroom is christian and push a Bible at them is rude and inconsiderate.

No. You have the right to swear an oath to the court. The bible isnt necessary.

Actually, it is not required. If you do not want to swear on a bible you do not have to. You just have to affirm to tell the truth.
