What your opinions about Malaysia?

My parents currently live in Malaysia, it is a nice clean country I was able to visit last xmas. It is a muslim country however the main muslim sect there is less strict so women do not generally go veiled. There are also a lot of buddhist, taoist, hindu, and christian believers there as well. The country is religously tolerant unless you are born a muslem then you must remain muslem or face dire consequences. The laws are simple, fair, and strictly upheld. The crime rate is almost nonexistent, possibly due to them having the death penalty for drug dealing. Many asian countries do this and as a result have very low crime rates. It could also be that crimes which do occur are often covered up for the sake of continued tourism which is a large part of the economy there. However, my folks who have now lived there over a year say its been very peaceful. Panaang is the place to go if you enjoy good food it is called the food capital of Malaysia and some of the best food in the world is there and cheap. If you enjoy traveling it is cheap and easy to do so by train over there I recommend checking out singapore while in the area. If you are a male and traveling alone or amongst other men then you can take advantage of the backpackers hotels fairly safely. Its a room full of bunks which cost less than a US dollar a night each but keep your gear near or it may dissapear. If you are planning on going to Malaysia enjoy it, im jealous LOL.

I have never been to Malaysia, I just only saw some pictures and advertisements, it looks nice, I think if I could afford I would visit it.

hmmm no real thoughts on it... never been there... but it's probably a nice place to visit..
