An experienced vet should be able to do something, but your dog is still young and it can take up to a year. It shouldn't harm his breeding ability in the long run if they take longer to descend.

In your situation it is best to consult with a professional. Either call a local vet and ask him these questions, or do a search and find vet web sites until you find one that answers questions by email. But the point is, this is not a situation to take lightly or to base your actions on the advise of the general public. Seek out trained professional advise for this matter.

If they don't drop, I would neuter him. A dog can't be successfully shown with undescended testicles and regardless of previous lack of the problem in family history, you don't want to be passing on the gene.

On the bright side, he is young and a small dog. We ended up waiting 7 months for my mini-dachshunds to drop so that everyone felt okay with the surgery (my vet at the time liked to wait until everything was in place before removing them). So there's still hope! Talk to your breeder and the vet and see what they have to say.

My males didn't fully drop until he was almost 9 months - he's almost 1 now and thinks he's king-stud! I don't know how to break the news to him that he still has a while to go before he'll be allowed to test his 'manly abilities'.

I don't understand, if he has 2 in his scrotum, then they already have dropped.. Where else do you expect them to drop to?

If they have not dropped yet, then you should have it looked at, and have him neutered.. You cannot breed a dog with this condition because he will pass it to his offspring..IF he is even able to impregnate a female..

There is absolutely NOTHING you can do to make them drop...
