If language domination continues to follow cultural and political domination (which it should), I would say that the majority of the world will speak either English or Mandarin as their first or second language within 100 years.
English because educated people in India, Europe, N. America, Asia and S. America and parts of Africa already speak and teach it as a second language. ... this teaching will continue.
Mandarin because China is pushing this as the "unifying" common languange to be taught in Chinese schools. Also, because many non-chinese people are begining to learn this as a second language.
Therefore, in 100 years, these should be the two dominating languages on the planet ... who knows, in 500 years, maybe the world's "first language" will be some sort of combination of the two ... like in the streets of Blade Runner!

English. It's a Germanic language and therefor good. Just kidding.
I hope it'll never happen. Languages are part of culture and we would lose parts of ourselves if we were to lose our languages.
