Off on our hols soon, in the above mentioned area, just wondered what attractions there are down there bearing in mind we have a 3 year old.

Anyone local got any advice? Good beaches with rockpools anywhere? any quaint fishing villages to wander around?

thanks xx

Paignton Zoo
Minehead Butlins
Weymouth (beach, Butlins, Shops, arcades

Theres loads to do there, the site will have loads of brochures & money off coupons, the large Cornish market is well worth a visit, it's amazingly cheap and just brilliant

The Lizard Peninsula is stunningly beautiful. Mevagissey, Fowey and Polperro are lovely little villages. Truro is well worth a visit. The Screech Owl Sanctuary previously mentioned is great. Don't even bother with Newquay itself, it's truly awful now - overrun with Emmets. If you like dramatic landscape then try Bodmin Moor - a jaunt to Rough Tor and Brown Willy will do you the world of good! Don't bother with Land's End; it's been turned into a ridiculous theme park and is very disappointing. Should've been left wild. I've always like rockpooling on Falmouth beach as well.

Lucky thing wish i was going to Cornwall too!

Marazion (St Michales Mount) - when the tide is high you can get a boat to the mount and when it is low you can walk across the causeway which has plenty of little rock pools. On the mount, you can visit the house (National Trust), there is a nice cafe too.

Padstow - your quaint fishing village although this time of year can get rather busy.

The Eden Project - great for a family day out, even if its raining!

The Lost Gardens of Heligan - Victorian Gardens now restored to their former glory. You can easily fill a whole day walking around the Vegatable garden, the jungle, the sundial garden, the italian gardens, the pineapple pit, the list goes on but the gardens also have a cafe and shop full of produce grown in the gardens.

Mevagissy - quaint fishing (just down from Heligan) but be warned can get very crowded in good weather.

The Cornish Owl Santuary - Nr Newquay. Great for you and the little one. A wide selection of owls which you can what flying and even stroke (in the close encounters section)

The Cornish Seal Santuary - Gweek. Again great for you and the little one, look at all the seals being nursed back to health (even adopt one).

Truro - Beautiful cathedral city, enjoy lunch in the back of the cathedral then tour around the beautiful city.

Have fun, take lots of pictures and i hope the weather is great for you!!

Beaches - Gunwalloe Church Cove for sand, Gunwalloe Dollar Cove for rock pools, Kynance Cove is the most beautiful beach in Cornwall but best at low tide and a bit of a hike back up (all are near Helston)

Fishing villages - Mullion is pretty so is Coverack

Give St Ives a miss, far too many tourists and impossible to park.

have fun!

Been there a few times its such a nice place, Flambards is in Helston its a small theme park that kids and grown ups will love,
but you should definitely check out all the coves in the area they are spectacular.
