My question is asked without malice or sarcasm. What if you are wrong?

Why does everyone assume I'm not an atheist or an agnostic? It is everyone's right not to believe or to not be sure or to be wholly consumed in God. All I wanted to know is what will you do if you are wrong and God does exist? Is that beyond the scope of your ability to answer? And please don't try and fool yourself into not thinking you are making any claims. You support the view that no God exists. That is your claim and it, too, has no absolute basis in fact. How can you know what will happen when you die? Those who make no claims are agnostics.

Without a means to understand ourselves through conscious thought, there is no point in humanity, and without a means for the universe to understand itself, there is no point in the universe.

I'm an agnostic not an atheist -- but I can still answer this.
If I discovered that there is a god, then I would not change the way I live.
Let me ask you a question -- what if there is a god, but he isn't the one you think he is. All Christian religions believe that you can only get to heaven if you are a believer. Some (such as Catholics) also believe that you have to be a good person.
What if God only cares about people being good? Then it doesn't matter if I believe or not.
What if God only cares about if I believe? Then that means that God sends good people to hell if they are not believers. If this is true, then this God is evil. I cannot worship honor, honor or obey a God who uses the same criteria for sending people to Hell that Hitler used for sending people to Auchwitz.
What if God doesn't care about any of this -- but views life as a test to get into heaven. And what if that test is to see if we can think critically and for ourselves. Perhaps Eve made the right choice -- choosing knowledge over happiness. In that case, I will waltz into heaven whiole all those Christian believers who just blindly accepted what they were told go to Hell.
So -- what if you are wrong?

If I am wrong and there is a god. I will stand before him on judgment day knowing I have lived a good life. I have done everything I can to better myself and help others. If this god still condemns me to hell just because I did not worship him, well then I know I still made the right decision. That is not a god I would worship even if I knew he were real.
I have read the bible, gone to church and studied many different religions...I made an informed decision. I god strikes me down for that he is a stupid god.

I am Agnostic. That is the whole point! We do not claim to know the mind of God like so many other religions.

Oh well. I am living my life the way I feel I should. I would be lying to myself and wasting my time if I tried to pretend I believed in a god so that I could get to heaven. My time here on earth is too precious to waste trying to live in a way that I don't believe.

If we are wrong then we are just wrong, but atleast we didn't waste our lives worshipping something we refuse to believe, and also what if you're wrong you will be much more dissappointed then us.
