I live on cape cod and 4 people in the past few weeks have been stung by portuguese manowars. I am pregnant and worried about wether this will effect my baby if I get stung. If anyone has an answer or web site with some info I would appreciate it. THANKS so much, Michelle

Michelle....no it shouldn't affect your pregnancy, but stay out of the water, just to be safe. Mostly the sting will affect the skin, but in the past people have been stung multiple times in several minutes....so this could lead to other problems......like breathing and swelling. But my best advice to you is to stay on dry land, or swim in a pool.....don't take a chance with your baby. Best of luck.................

We dont have those here, so I would check with a doctor or someone at the county office for information about them what what it might do.
