I am referring to a call about a home break in, nothing was taken but there had been an illegal entry to my home. Police never followed up & when I asked why they didn't, their answer was that I called the regular number & not 911!

I live in a small surburb where there is little crime so it isn't like the police here are worked to death as they are in big cities. Evidently, it was my fault for not calling 911 but, silly me, I thought that 911 was for emergencies! And, in answer to wtfkevo #1 No, I am not retarded & #2 my brother happens to be a big city cop in a very dangerous precinct, so it's not like I am anti police in any way (in fact, that is quite the opposite). I would have asked my bro. but he is out of town. I would be willing to bet that a large percentage of the public think the same way I did. Well, now I know better! Thank you to the rest of you that answered. I really don't know why they chose not to respond unless they didn't believe me. This incident happened in October & to date they haven't bothered. Last week the house across the street was broken into & police swarmed the place, beats me! It's not as though I have ever been in trouble or ever called them before this thing in October!

Thanks Mike. I know you're not going to believe this one but here goes. Actually, this was my own fault because I left my windows open all day while I was at work & my son was at school. It never occured to me that this would be a problem since I had grown up here & as I said before, it was always a safe place to live. Anyways, nothing was taken but here's the weird part- I found strange panties on top of my panties in my underwear drawer. Also, the toilet lid was up & there was urine in the toilet & it had not been flushed. I know it wasn't there when I left for work at 7:15 a.m., & it wan't my son. I know this because I took him to football practice at 6am then came back to finish getting ready for work. Long story short when I returned form work at 5ish, I discovered all this. I checked w/my son when I picked him up after his evening practice & he hadn't been home all day.The next morning I called the police to report it & the policewoman I talked to said to bring them to the station

after work, which I did & was treated like some kind of fool. The officer on duty was very rude but said that he would give it to the detectives in the a.m. I never heard anymore about it but kept everything locked up after that w/no further incident. That is until last week when the house across the street was broken into. Evidently panties & condoms were taken soooo Inspector Clouseau called me at work the next AM & asked to see me & my son at the station ASAP but wouldn't say why. Stupidly, I went home, got my son & went to the station like a good little citizen. When we arrived there they took my son into a room & me into another where they proceeded to Miranda him &?'d him for an hour after which time they printed him. Meanwhile they were ?ing me. So, when I found out what it was all about I asked why I got no follow up, & that is what they told me. I also allowed them to search my house, where they found nada. My son has never been in any trouble at all & is innocent but I am

really afraid for him. This whole thing is crazy. They said that it had to be him that did it since I found panties in my drawer, HUH? My son was at football practice & school that entire day & will be able to prove it if necessary. He also can verify where he was on the day of the other event but it still scares me. I know he is innocent but I am afraid that this might come back to haunt him in the future. Also, he just turned 18 in May & starts college in the fall. Will he have a record now that he was ?'d & fingerprinted? I don't want him being labeled as a pervert when he tries to get a job after graduation.

They must respond to 911 calls first as 911 means immediate help is needed. Did they not come to your house the next day? That happened to me, a break in, and the next day detectives showed up to ask me about it. If the burglar was in the house you would have called 911.

Depends on where you live, the police do not have to respond to non-911 calls!!!

I don't think the police are obligated to help anyone.
You can't make a policeman come to your house, can you?

i would stay on them until they did something. 911 is for emergencies and not every situation is an emergency.
