Egotistical scientists who think they know everything are indeed the root to evil as well as the true anti-christs.

Okay, I've been watching this video stream, and all I can think of is what an idiot the guy is. And he's an Oxford Professor?

He states that "Religion is the root of all evil" and I say that is hogwash. Certainly there are things that have happened in religion that are evil, but those things are from the evils of the people in the religion, not the religion itself. He is blaming religion for the faults of men. I say let men bear their own faults.

He also is very angry towards the concept of "blind faith without thinking" and I just have to comment that I am so grateful that my faith is strong enough that it encourages me to think and research and interact.

Certainly "religions" of themselves can be catastrophic. "Religion" is simply man's way of exercising faith. When we fail in our exercise of religion, the failure is that of us and not of the faith.

I would suggest that rather than promoting the hatred and the evil and "all things bad" that, if he wants to make a positive difference, that he stop his babbling and actually go out to make positive change in the world. The abolishment of religion will only make bad people worse.

Bill Hybels states, "There is nothing like the local church when the local church is working right." He is absoloutely right on this one. Yes, we screw it up. But when we don't, when we get it right, the local church is the hope of the world.

So I say, rather than throwing out the baby with the bathwater, let's get the local church working right!

No, I think and believe that the root of all evil lies in money. Not in possessing it but loving it. Almost everyone will do anything to earn an extra buck or two. This Richard Dawkins is not someone who knows of true evil because he hides himself saying that, "That the belief in a divine creator belittles man."

Am I the only one who watched the video enough to know what you were asking? Sheesh people, don't rely on yo momma's cliches to answer.

It's absolutely right to say that religion is often the reason for people to behave in evil ways. It's also important to point out that each and every person on this earth possesses the power of choice. People can choose to use religion as a means of evil, or they can choose not to. It's not religion itself that is the root of all evil. It's the power of choice. The person narrating the video is choosing to only see the negative effects of religion.

as brandy said it, selfishness, thinking too much for self gain. But why? because we are never taught properly what we really are. That we are spirit souls in a material body, such as a driver in a car, we are not the car. As a driver, whenever we get hungry, we need something for our body, but to put gas, even full tank won't satisfy us, because we are not part of the body. So a human spirit soul who needs nourishment for his true self cannot be satisfied because he pampers only the material body.To feed his self is simple, do the will of God, perform the prescribed prayer, do good, give unconditional love, adn so on, all action, thinking, intentions for the cause of God.
