I would suggest lifting the seat. Just watch out for them stupid thick fuzzy mats on the top of the toilet lid. If you lift the lid and the whole lot may want to fall down on you when you are taking a piss. You can get injured with the ring whipping down.
At that point, I would either rip that stupid fuzzy cover off or not worry about lifting the ring to avoid an injury to your member!

Depends on whose seat it is. If the toilet is in a female's house then the correct position/common position for the seat would be to be down (perhaps with lid down as well). Man who lifts it to urinate would be expected (polite man) to put it in the down position when he is finished.
If the toilet is in the man's house then I suppose the seat should be put back up when the woman is finished using it, however, I have never done so in my 64 years! Don't plan to start now.
By the way, leaking on the seat for whatever reason is tacky as hell!

Put the toilet seat back up when you go to the bathroom. Or try to use the bathroom sitting down with the seat up so you know why your girlfriend puts the seat up.

Uhh... lift the seat up? Or simply ask your girl to lift it up after use. I'm sure she'll understand. If not, then you should seriously dump her. If she can't even do something as simple as lifting a toilet seat after she's done with it, then she's really not worth spending the rest of your lifetime with.

Grow up you idiot. The lid is there to put down in order to keep pets and any stray objects from falling in to the toilet. Most normal people turn off lights with the "LIGHT SWITCH" when they leave a room. Put the "LID" down when you are finished. It is not a male or female thing; it is a "STUPID OR NOT STUPID" thing when you come right down to it.

Put a "post it " note on the lid. When the lid is up no one will see it, and if someone accidentally, or automatically puts it down, they will be reminded.
