I have never drank regular soda in my entire life. I've always stuck to diet. Odd thing is water disgusts me. For whatever reason whenever I try drinking water it makes me feel dirty, like it's not clean.

So anyways, I drink alot of diet pop. Right now im on the slimfast diet, having 2 of those a day with fruit and veggies and a normal dinner.

I really enjoy my diet soda. I drink 5-7 cans a day. Does this harm a diet? I realize it has no calories, but are there chemicals in it that make weightloss harder?

you can still gain weight on it...if it has sugar in it. Plus its not very good for you. Do the crystal light thing. They even have an offbrand at walmart of it right beside teh crystal light. Slimfast works..but i felt like i was starving myself...seemed to be always hungry. And its kind of expensive. I lost 100 lbs. pretty easy. Actually, Im in the process of writing a book right now regarding weight loss. Limit your total fat intake a day to 20-30. Or you can count calories and stay between 1300-1500. You can eat just about anything. White meats, low fat dairy, fruits, veggies...etc. You can get those healthy choice frozen meals if your in a hurry or working. I'm like you whereas i dont enjoy water. But, ive made myself drink it and now I want it more than I do soda. Also, you have to exercise every day for about 30 min. if you cant go that long to begin with just do what you can. Exercising includes parking farther away from the grocery store and walking. Just make little changes. Find an easy exercise that you enjoy the most. Lets face it ..at first hardly any of it is enjoyable. My problem was that i am only 24 but I have severe disk degenerative disease in all of my lower lumbars...so no aerobics for me. The elliptical machine works awesome!! It actually works out most of your body. Yoga is good for stretching and feeling good. Just do whatever floats your boat...if your moving...your burning it off.

First of all, yes diet sodas can harm your diet.

Second of all, if you are young and in your teens and early twenties, you do not need to worring about diets anyway. Just eating healthy and exercising at least 3-5 times a week is good enough.

Yes, Vegan and vitamin soda do not fall within the identical class. One is well for you and the opposite is poison. I'm considering why you're asking if it was once established on animals? After reading all the answers they all forgot 2 things. 1) there is an ingred. that is used in embalming fluid and 2) any kind of pop diet or reg. will increase your appetite. Try Crystal Light and bottled water. Maybe even sugarless tea. I only drink water tea and 1% milk. Everything else makes me fell as though I want to puke.

Diet soda can zap the calcium right from your bones. I would personally stay away from it. It won't harm your diet, per se, but it will hurt your body's ability to absorb necessary nutrients.

Scientists recently did a study and found that people who drank diet soda and dieted had trouble losing weight because of the soda.

The 'calorie free' drink fools your body and it actually causes you to gain weight because your body is expecting the calories to be there to use, and when they are not, it gains weight.

It's not good for you. I've read that there are calories in diet soda anyway.

Try not drinking any soda for a week and see if it makes a difference.
