For the simple fact that people are hypocrites. They are as Revelation puts it "Nicolations" People who want to be a member of a religion, "Christianity" and still follow what the world says is acceptable. One cannot be a christian and an follower of the world, for either he will love the one and hate the other.

Because no one is perfect, and also many people don't practice their religion. The Bible says to love your enemies, do good to those that hate you. It's pretty hard to do, but I've found if I wait a minute and think about it, I'm a lot better off than speaking or acting impulsively. Impulsively I am a sinner. Impulsively I want to argue, or if someone is really obscene, I want to superglue their lips together. That's why I have to give it over to Jesus, cause with my temper, I'm not worth a flip.

In Christianity, it's called walking in the flesh, not in the spirit. At times, we get defensive when we're attacked. We take it personally. It's wrong, and it does more harm than good.
We are to love our enemies because in that way we can win them over.

Because it is easier to retaliate and lash out than to accept differences of opinion, no matter how hatefully that opinion is expressed.
You must appreciate that the person insulting you is offering you the opportunity to practice patience and understanding, and giving you the opportunity to make the conscious decision to choose a better path towards enlightenment.

Yes, the Bible (specifically The New Testament) teaches us to love our enemies. But this doesn't mean that we are supposed to lie down like a doormat and approve or tolerate the evil that they do.

Some religions inspire them to strap some C4 and a box of nails to their waist and run into crowds of people. Ironic eh! Religion inspires so much hatred even though the words in the bible and Koran say otherwise.

Human nature We should not. But anger flairs with insults. Those of us who believe in turning the other cheek try hard not to let anger get to us. And very often it doesn't. But we do sometimes fail.
Of course I speak only for myself. Perhaps there are some who never fail

Chinese religion "Bidhism" teaches so.It is prohibited in this religion to kill anyone even if someone attackes you.You can not kill a snake who is going to bite you.
But I dont think these teachings are good enough to survive in the world. It is necessary to defend ourselves when someone attackes us,according to teachings of Islam.

Yes we are taught to love our enemies & forgive them for their wrongdoings.
Not everyone follows what their religion teaches, or even follows a religion at all, that's why they do not observe this Commandment.
