this is typical kitten behavior - you should have got an adult cat if you wanted something quieter -
it will settle down both as he ages and when he gets neutered (dont declaw because declawing often turns cats into nervous biters and has other problem too)
dont allow your roommate to play rough with him
if he (kitten) plays rough with you - immediately stop playing with hm

It's time to play rough with your roommate and INSIST he stops ruining your cat! Being more powerful than a helpless kitten isn't much to brag about but some people are just clueless. Yes he MIGHT become less aggressive after he's neutered but cats have long memories, like years, so that might not work. Stop the rough play NOW.
By the way. We have a situation of !. Helpless kitten...2. Clueless roomate who plays rough with him. WHO is the devil???

Oh boy, shame shame roommate! lol It will take some work but I suggest when he start to play rough tell him " easyyyy" and retract your hand. Dont allow him to bite on you so hard. It wont happen right away but it needs to be taught now while its young. Also get a stuffed animal and when he starts to bite you, replace your hand with the bear and kinda move the bear around to play back with the kitten. Maybe at least that way it will bite the bear instead of you .GL!

That is typical kitten behavior.
They are like that. Most will clam down alot as they get older.
But when they are young the are just crazy and tear around and play hard and sort of rough.
Most get much quieter as they get older. They wil still play but not a hard.
You may not want to play to hard especially if he is biting as he will think it is ok to do it and it hurts and cat bites can be really bad.

Never rough-house with a cat!!! Any animal will react the way it is treated. We have 3 cats, Simon is 4 1/2 orange tabby who watches over everyone and he loves to be petted while we watch T.V. Sheba is our 1 yr old female tortie who loves to be petted, and hugged, on her terms. The baby is Abby who is a chocolate point Ragdoll. She loves hugs and being brushed and has her nose in everything. The more love and gentle attention you give your kitten or any animal, you will be rewarded tenfold.

Ask your roomate not to play with him so rough. You can go to the pet store and there are books on how to tame cats and stuff.

Yes well no what you mean, my partner was doing the same and he started scratching my two year old son when he went near him. I can tell you this as long as you keep your room mate away from your cat he will eventually calm down. Will also help if you get him desexed, the cat that is, ha ha

Ask your roomie to stop playing so rough. Start playing gently with the cat yourself, while wearing gloves if necessary. :) If your kitty refuses to behave, sometimes a gentle squirt from a water pistol can set things straight.
Good luck!
