i have the same problem, except without the curl. mine is so thick, i have to get it thinned once a year. that helps alot. a good conditioner i found is biolage ultra hydrating or Paves which isnt expensive at all, I found it at Walgreens pharmacy, comes in a blue bottle. Also, you can use the deep oil conditioners, just not vo5, it makes the situation even worse, and if you can put up with the smell, saturate your hair with regular mayo, not miracle whip, all night underneath a shower cap. this makes it super soft, but it stinks, and its messy, and you have to put lemon juice in your hair when you rinse it out in the morning to get rid of the smell. but it does work. well, good luck.

First, try washing your hair every other day. Washing your hair every day will dry it out if it's prone to being dry. Then, Use a tiny amount of shampoo when you wash your hair. After washing, try a conditioner like Pantene Smooth & Silky (which won't make your hair frizz out) After you're done washing your hair try putting on a small amount of BioSilk "Silk Therapy". It's like a serum/gel consistency, work it in your hands and then through your hair. Don't blow dry until your hair is completely dry (if you must blow dry). Biosilk has shampoo and conditioner also which is very nice.

I used ;liquid fabric softener mixed with water on mine. Use a teaspoonful or two to 8 oz water and comb through hair. Let dry.
Cheaper than hair conditioners, smells good, and does a wonderful job.
Hope

I have that SAME kind of 'mixed blessing' hair. I used to use a relaxer that was imported from Korea. Can't remember the name of it, but it REALLY relaxed and softened my hair. I advise U to peruse any and all Asian-run parlors to see what products they carry for this purpose, and ask them in-person
